[edit] Schooling

Hampshire Regional aims to give students a solid education in arts, academics, and fitness. This is accomplished through a standard, roughly six hour school day, for 180 days every year. At the end of each grade, students participate in the MCAS[1], the Massachusetts aptitude test used for both Elementary, Middle, and High School.

[edit] Mission Statement

"The mission of Hampshire Regional High School is to empower students to be capable and confident and prepared to meet the challenges of life. In partnership with our five towns, we create a supportive and respectful environment that fosters cooperation, critical thinking, and creativity. We encourage our students to explore opportunities that develop the knowledge and skills needed to be life-long learners and responsible participants in society."[2]

[edit] Rules

Hampshire Regional has long been a safe place for students, and the school faculty make sure it stays that way. Hampshire Regional has multiple Zero-Tolerance rules against all forms of harassment, drugs, alcohol, etc. and holds students to high standards of morality.[3]. Hampshire Regional also institutes 30 hours of community service as a requirement for graduation. Within the member towns, this requirement is occasionally disputed. The student handbook also details other, more specific rules.[4]

[edit] Social Activities

Hampshire Regional, like many secondary schools, hosts dances and promenades for the students. In addition, students may choose to participate in extracurricular activities such as band & theater.[5]

[edit] Athletics

Hampshire Regional is known as a local sports power. The Raiders have won numerous Western Massachusetts championships in Basketball, Soccer and softball. In 2007, the Raiders Boys Soccer Team brought home a State Championship, the first for a Division 2 Western Mass team in over 25 years.
