Hamakita, Shizuoka

Hamakita (浜北市 Hamakita-shi?) was a city located in Shizuoka, Japan. The city was amalgamated by the city of Hamamatsu on July 1, 2005 along with 11 municipalities.

As of April 1, 2005-final population data before the July 1, 2005 amagalation, the city has an estimated population of 87,810. The total area is 66.64 km².

  • July 1, 1963-The city was founded after the town of Hamakita gained city status.
  • July 1, 2005-The city was amalgamated by the city of Hamamatsu along with 11 municipalities.
  • April 1, 2007-The city of Hamamatsu is scheduled to become a designated city and the Hamakita-ku will be founded at the sametime.
