Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
- Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as: copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such unreasonable information or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, and will result in your account being blocked.
The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. Again, welcome!
[edit] Joshua Bartholomew AfD and learning the wiki
Thanks for providing that source. If you need help with something, just add {{helpme}}
to your talk page and someone will be here shortly. Or you can leave me a message by clicking this link and I will be glad to help. You're doing fine so far. Try to follow the bulleting of comments that I did at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joshua Bartholomew. You might also add the code:

- *'''Keep''' per my reasoning above.--~~~~
to a new line of the page to make it explicit.--Kchase02 T 08:44, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Joshua Bartholomew CMW 2006 - 1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Joshua Bartholomew CMW 2006 - 1.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 09:04, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Help
How do I remove or delete a picture that I uploaded to Wikipedia?
My first contribution has been nominated for deletion. Once this process is over, can it be repeated again and again?
- Let me know which pictures you want deleted, and I will tag them for removal. Also, which contribution is tagged for deletion? Maybe I can explain to you why it is marked as such. --Willy No1lakersfan (Talk - Contribs) 18:16, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

- The picture name is: Joshua Bartholomew CMW 2006 - 1.jpg It's the only one I have uploaded. As far as my contribution goes, I joined Wikipedia in the wee hours this morning. I thought I would write a short contribution and add to it later today. My first post was at 5:56. I was still in the middle of working on the article only to find that it was nominated for deletion at 7:32. I have since added to it. My concern/question is, can people re-nominate the same page for deletion or can it only be nominated once? Frankly, I have found this process unfair and offensive. Perhaps a 24-48 hour grace period for newcomers to get familiarized with Wikipedia. And certainly an offer of help before a nomination for deletion. I don't know the person who nominated my contribution for deletion, but I will guess he doesn't listen to Canadian radio or watch Canadian television. I'm grateful for the help I have received from Kchase02, Captainktainer and yourself. Thank you!Halle Leah 18:43, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

- If the page still meets the Wikipedia deletion policy, then yes, the page can be renominated. If it is renominated, you should find out who nominated it and ask why they think the page should be deleted. Then you can correct what is wrong.
- As for the image, I will ask that it is removed since the user who uploaded it does not need it anymore. I am sorry it took so long for me to reply again, but I left the room for a few minutes. --Willy No1lakersfan (Talk - Contribs) 19:37, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help Willy, greatly appreciated. Halle Leah 19:47, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Some more tips
You've reacted remarkably well to this whole situation and I must say I'm impressed. I thought I'd give you a few more tips to make your initial time here a little easier. Lesson one is talk pages. Every page on wikipedia has a discussion page, including user pages (I took the liberty of creating a user page for you at User:Halle Leah). This is your user talk page, where people can leave messages for you. Articles also have talk pages where wikipedians talk about the content of the article. Here is the article talk for my alma mater. Wikipedians often put a link to their talk page in their signature. In my case it's just a capital T, Kchase02 T and in Captainktainer's case it's the "talk" after his signature, which links to User talk:Captainktainer, where you can leave him a message. Just click the little plus sign ("+") up top next to "edit this page" to create a new section and leave a message there.

- Thank you so much for creating a user page for me, it looks great! And thanks for the little plus sign tip... go figure. :) Halle Leah 04:45, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Lesson two is sandboxes. There's a general sandbox for everyone that gets erased constantly at Wikipedia:Sandbox. You also can create your very own sandbox at User:Halle Leah/sandbox and do rough drafts of articles there. Feel free to run an article by me if you're not sure whether it is suitable enough for an encyclopedia. I'll do my best to help you avoid another trip to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thankfully that usually takes five days, so you would have plenty of time to argue why an article should not be deleted. As you've figured out, the "Show preview" button is also an excellent option. Good luck. Leave me a message if I can do anything for you. Cheers and happy editing!--Kchase02 T 04:04, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

- Very wise idea. I made myself a sandbox. I can't thank you enough for your help. All the best, always, Halle Leah 04:45, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Article in my sandbox
Hi Kchase02,
I have an article in my sandbox. Do you mind taking a look at it before I post it? Also, should I use the "move" feature to post it?
Thanks for your help! Halle Halle Leah 17:14, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- You may have similar problems as last time. A lot of stuff on wikipedia gets deleted due to notability concerns (i.e.: what has this person done that is noteworthy or cool or exciting that gives me reason to bother reading about them?) For the Joe Mardin proposal, the question in my mind is whether he has done anything besides working for or alongside famous people, which generally doesn't confer notability. Has he, for example, written music for a notable musician? Looking at that link you included, I see that he was co-composer for several notable musicians, so I added one that I confirmed. Still, the article barely asserts notability. If you want to add some more info that would confer notability under WP:MUSIC, that might be helpful before we post it. How's that sound?--Kchase T 23:27, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

- Sounds great, I'll see what else I can find! Thanks Kchase! Halle Leah 01:52, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

- I read the notice at the top of your page and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to reply here or on my page. Please let me know so I do the right thing next time. :) I found a lot of information about Joe Mardin. I have been trying to keep things short and concise, I hope that's a good thing. I'm not sure I'm completely happy with the article, let me know what you think of the new additions. And again, I just want to say thank you for encouraging me, it really means a lot. Halle. - It doesn't matter much which page we're using as long as all the messages are more or less together on on page. The goal is to keep two way conversations readable. I have your talk page watchlisted, so I'll notice if you leave a reply here for me. I think the article in your sandbox is fine. Unless there's something bugging you about it that we can fix, it's probably ready to go up as an article. I suggest you cut-and-paste the contents to Joe Mardin. BTW, you're welcome for encouraging you. That's what I'm here for. :) --Kchase T 04:55, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

- After sleeping on it, and after a few minor revisions, I posted the article. As I learn more, I can add/edit. Speaking of which, I tried my hand at editing today. I spent over 2 hours trying to improve an article. It still needs work. :/ Halle Leah 23:48, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
