Constituent country?

What's with the constant constituent country revert for English people? It's not an official term, and has no specific meaning in this context. A country is just a geographical region, the UK is a country, and so is England. I don't see any purpose in using this term. We need to come to some sort of understanding, so I'd like to know your reasons for the constant change. If you feel strongly about it I don't really understand why you haven't given a good reason for making the change. On a slightly different note, it shouldn't be capitalised, Constituent country but should have a lower case letter constituent country, to do this it is best to pipe it thus [[Constituent country|constituent country]] this is displayed as constituent country, this avoids using redirects. All the best, Alun 10:13, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

OK, I think your reasonong is sound, so let's say constituent country then:) Alun 14:21, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Lex Luger

I've already posted it on the Pro Wrestling shoutboard. You should call for a temporary lock on the Lex Luger article due to anon users insisting on beating the dead horse about the video which already ran its course. Duo02 *dilly-dally shilly-shally** 17:59, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

List of famous tall men

  • Why did you block this page? Pooter-the-clown 08:13, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
What do you mean by block?Halbared 09:24, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
I can't enter more celebrities into this page anymore. Someone has blocked this page. Pooter-the-clown 09:20, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
The page is protected, the note is Note: This page has been protected so that only established users can edit it. Try again in a few days, also, make sure you read the disclaimer before you add any ppl, and the talk page too.Halbared 09:24, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
  • The List of famous tall men should start with 6' 3" because there are also very famous actors like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson who stand a half inch under 6' 4". And remember, as I can see from your userpage, you are also a half inch under 6' 4". Wouldn't it better to start this page with 6' 3"? Pooter-the-clown 16:25, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Do you own this page? Because it looks like this. I added some persons who have their own wikipedia article, and added the source for their height. What's wrong with this? You could check the sources, if you don't believe me, but why delete all them? There are far more unknown names in the list.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.49.102.75 (talk • contribs) 20:29, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
The reason that many people have chosen to keep the list from being deleted (on the three occasions it has come up) is if we source all the people on it. I have been busy previously, but am managing to make headway now. Another reason is that there needs to be suitable criteria for adding people. Just blanket adding non notable people will make the list too large and pointless.Halbared 09:38, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
when you will explain me why Pierre van Hooijdonk, Sajid Mahmood (worldwide famous cricketeer) and Lawrie Sanchez are more notable than Marco Materazzi, Luca Toni and Shawn Bradley, i will stop adding them in the list. but it looks like you don't want them in your list. i understand that this is english language wikipedia, but in the list there is some people unknown out of UK (your country, incidentally). the english language factor can matter for materazzi and toni, but why even shawn bradley? he's one of the tallest players in NBA history, one of the tallest mormons, and starred in Space Jam film. i think he is more notable than a british cricketeer. do you have the right to decide who is notable and who's not?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.53.88.125 (talk • contribs) 19:54, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

I asked for semi-protection for the Andre page, and as a reward I get blocked. Halbared 19:21, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia is a collaborative effort for everyone to input valid information and knowledge with respect to certain topics. Andre is NOT your article. Justice is served!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mgwcanam (talk • contribs) 20:43, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
And if you read the talk page and understood it you shall see that the agreed upon version was a collaborative effort, and that I was protecting the result of said effort from a lone vandal who insists on inputting incorrect and POV information. Is that you?:oDHalbared 19:47, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Excuse me? I only made edits to Andre's height particulars, I do not claim responsibility for the body text, which quite frankly, seems accurate in my opinion. You are a repeat 3RR offender and you need to learn your lesson and accept shared information on a database that is not guaranteed or authorized in any way, as long as it makes sense. Again, this is NOT your article. Your ideas of "incorrect and POV" information are skewed in this context. Andre did have back surgery in '86, and being a specialist in the medical field, I guarantee that he had more than one. Faulty biomechanics in the spine lead to posture problems, which is exactly what Andre had. Case closed. Now when you get "un-blocked", please be compassionate for others who try to make positive alterations to articles on Wikipedia.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mgwcanam (talk • contribs) 21:14, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
You're excused if it is not you who is inputting the incorrect and POV info (altho it's interesting to note of the only 4 edits you have made 2 of them are on my talk page:oD). Andre had one dose of back surgery in '86. There is no record I have seen or been shown that he had more than one, until it's cited, its incorrect or POV, and will be removed. Again read the talk, the agreed version was a collaboration and the anon editor rejects this. Learn to accept your own guideline. U are not in a position to guarantee anything, either cite it nor not. And sign your psots, thank you:oDHalbared 20:52, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Protection

Hi - I've fully protected the article for now, as there is an edit war involving an anonymous user and a registered user. The reason for the full protection is dual - to foster discussion and to avoid giving one side of the dispute the upper hand in an argument. Thanks Martinp23 19:00, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

The Rock

Have you read both sources? "The Rock is Walking Tall in films these days and has taken over the mantle from 'big' Arnie as the 'next generation' Action Star. Co-star Michael Clarke in The Scorpion King says, when asked about The Rock: "He's 6'4", 270 lbs. I'm 6'5", 325 lbs. So there's the tale of the tape. End of story!", a height which the Rock has given." [1] also [2] DXRAW 23:31, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

John Maynard Keynes

Hello, the source you provided actually says "six feet and a half (two meters)", which is contradictory, and not "six feet six and a half (two meters)" which would have been correct. Instead of reverting me, you had better read it. RCS 18:42, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

It is contradictory, since six feet and a half is not 2, but 1.84 meters. Cheers, RCS 08:07, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
But thou shalt not interpret your sources, only quote them ;-) RCS 08:14, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Primo Carnera

??? But this source says all’esame antropometrico eseguito a Roma nel 1933 fa registrare 205 cm di altezza e 118 kg di peso ! RCS 10:05, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

This one says 2.05 cm as well. RCS 10:09, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
I think we should delete him because there is no way (yet) of knowing which measures are right. The Iatlians probably would want to have him as tall as possible - although the "antropometrical exam" of 1933 sounds pretty serious - while the Americans would try to shorten him so that he'd better fit into the stereotype of the diminutive "wop". On this assumption i personnaly tend to favour 205 cm, but this is far from being a factual approach. RCS 11:22, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

My job

Yeah it does. It's not bad. I mean, on a "busy" night, we take 9 or 10 incidents. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 23:38, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Primo Carnera : complete absurdity

Born in Sequals, near Udine, Italy, Carnera was a remarkable individual: at 6 ft 5 ½ (197 cm) tall and 276 pounds (125 kg) of weight. (...) He enjoyed a sizeable reach advantage over most rivals and, when seen on fight footage, he seems like a towering giant compared to many Heavyweights of his era, who were usually at least 60 pounds (27 kg) lighter and 7 inches (18 cm) smaller than him. Because of his size, he earned the nickname The Walking Alp. Halbared, if he really was 6 ft 5 ½, that means his opponents were 5 ft 10 ½ - actually my height, and nothing to scare people with. It sounds unbelievable. Accordingly, i guess that it is the 205 cm version that is right. What do you think ? RCS 19:57, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

This is the answer - 6 ft 7 makes much more sense. Cheers, RCS 20:03, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Marco Materazzi

Not notable ? You must be kidding. RCS 16:30, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

No Halbared! But I don't see why the list of famous tall men starts with over 6' 4". 6' 4" is also a pretty damn tall height and I'm completely unsatisfied with your act. I mean both of you, also RCS! As you can read the discuss page of the list of famous tall men, I've added a comment that I'm 6' 4" my self and if you want to hear my opinion: It's a little bit discriminating for me if the list of famous tall men is starting with over 6' 4". This page has to start with 6' 3". Just give me the reason why you guys are always changing the list of famous tall men to 6' 4.5" and one day the list of famous tall men will start with 6' 7" and then 6' 8" and even 7'.
