[edit] Where is the "List of Characters" link?
When viewing a page about any series with a story line I expect to find a simple and easy link to the characters of the series, games or not. Where is the link to the main article of the Half Life 2 characters? I'm struggling to find it, and am now going to resort to google. Wikipedia should not be frustrating to navigate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.137.46.43 (talk) 20:02, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Half Life stopped to support NVIDIA??
There are rumours that Valve purposefully stopped to support NVIDIA graphics chipset?? I have an NVIDIA 7400 and Half Life 2, Episode 1 ... recently stopped working, apparently after a Steam online update. When you google the error message "failed to lock vertex buffer in CMeshDX8::LockVertexBuffer" you find over 1200 hits - NVIDIA users world wide experience the same problems. There was a blog message from a Valve staff member saying they cant do anything about it.
Do you guys know more about it? Are there NVIDIA users where HL2 still works?

Mine works. It sounds like another issue with source caused by "paged pool memory low" it can be solved by a registry fix (google it)
[edit] No Mp-7 and USP from H&K
He rights theres no Mp-7 and USP from H&K. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.77.107.176 (talk) 19:57, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Weapons article
Where is it and why has it been deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Preda (talk • contribs) 17:32, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- One of the common reasons for articles that list and describe objects is that it's simply not encyclopedic, and in the context of the game article, it goes out of bounds of what Wikipedia is. You have to remember that game articles in Wikipedia are not game guides.--BirdKr 20:00, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Soundtrack Remixes
Compared HL1 Soundtrack with HL2 Soundtrack but I just can't hear anything that differs HL2 Track 32 from HL1 Track 2. Page states that HL2 32 is a remix but it sound exaclty like HL1 2 where is the difference? HL2 Tracks 34, 41 & 42 are for sure Remixes as they differ very clear.
[edit] Subsequent Releases
Shouldn't there be information about the current boxed releases down there? The most recent boxed version of HL2 no longer includes CS:S, but comes with deathmatch instead.

[edit] "Osama Bin Leaker"
'The game had been leaked by a German hacker named Axel G., also known as "Osama Bin Leaker".'
I followed HL2s development, leak and release quite closely and I've never heard of him being referred to as Osama Bin Leaker. I’m assuming this is vandalism unless someone thinks otherwise... Xep 21:58, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 1984 and City 17
Has anyone else noticed that City 17 and Airstrip One are very alike? Cameras everywhere, watching your every move, Dr. Breen (or Big Brother) always everywhere on giant screen, etc. Should this be in the article, City 17's article, or not at all? Thanks. --ASDFGHJKL=Greatest Person Ever+Coolest Person Ever 15:10, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- No, that type of information is not encyclopedic. --Charleca 18:38, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- There used to be info in the article about the parallels between 1984 and the game, but were removed since they couldn't be sourced. I agree there are many similarities, but that's it. Thunderbrand 20:38, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

- There surely must be an encyclopedic relevance to establish the literary links to this game. There are also many similarites to 'One flew over the cuckoo's nest' by Ken Kesey (down to calling the system of oppresion the Combine, the pronounced muteness of the main protagonists and exploration of somewhat similar themes) as well as The Tripods by John Christopher and War of the Worlds in terms of visual and thematic content. These sources are not hard to reference and the entry is incomplete without them. (Speakafreaka 09:39, 22 June 2007 (UTC))
-
- Seems to me that information of that sort is useful and even "encyclopedic" as long as you can provide an outside source. Throwing in your own observations/ideas would be original research and outside the project guidelines Maxweinberg 16:20, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- As your reference to "One flew over the Cuckoo's nest" might suggest, there will be many similarities, entirely coincidental, when trying to portray this social order. --THobern 00:00, 13 April 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by THobern (talk • contribs)
[edit] Spoiler Tag
An anonymous IP requested (via comment in the article) that a spoiler tag be added to the plot section. From my interpretations of WP:SPOILER, I don't think this is appropriate considering the length of time the game has been available and that the section is already called "Plot". Any other opinions on this? Useight 05:56, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Source Code Leak section
This section is largely unsourced, and there are some basic punctuation issues. Anyone want to provide sources, or should the last nine paragraphs be deleted? Una LagunaTalk 15:42, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] HL Comic
The Half Life 2 comic should be referenced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.2.62.165 (talk) 19:46, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- That is not an official comic, just a fan thing. − Twas Now ( talk • contribs • e-mail ) 06:34, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] No timejumps
It says there are no discontinuities or jumps in time from the protagonists POV, but I'd say there is. When Alyx and Gordon teleport together, they remain in the teleporter for a week before materializing again (according to Dr. Kleiner). Would that qualify as a time jump? 85.19.140.9 21:00, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- What it means is that Gordon has (since turning up to work at Black Mesa that morning) never been out of the player's control, or done anything away from the games. Gordon's experience during the time jump is the same as the player's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lordofthe9 (talk • contribs) 00:00, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Information Error
I noticed that in the end of the third paragraph it says "Overall, the Half-Life franchise, including Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat, has sold over 20 million units. " and realized that Day of Defeat though run on the Half-Life game engine it is not technicaly part of the Half-Life franchize.Unless someone has objection I plan to change it. --Dalaga Helios 19:14, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Id like to apoligize and say I was mistaken, apparently I had not read the information carfully enough.--Dalaga Helios 21:32, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Other gravity guns
In the article it is written that there were originally more prototypes for the Gravity Gun. Except for perhaps the blue\charged gravity gun and the Portal Gun, what were the other designs?Nefzen 19:37, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
There was a physics gun similar to the one used in garry's mod, it was featured in the E3 demo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.209.214.6 (talk) 20:01, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] "Tracks 44 to 51 are tracks from the game that did not appear on the soundtrack CD."
So, uh... why are they appearing in the tracklist for the soundtrack CD? You have torn a hole in the fabric of reality —Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.90.100.223 (talk) 07:08, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Black Mesa East
Should Black Mesa East be mentioned in the "Setting" Section? Because the descriptor East would imply somewhere east of New Mexico, and East, as i have seen it oftenly used, is used to describe a location in Europe/Asia-Minor/Africa. 71.215.217.95 (talk) 22:49, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Korin Mod for Half-Life 2

[edit] Small Change
The rating by PC Gamer in the USA was mistakenly listed as 96 when in fact it is 98%. Slight Change.

[edit] Weapons descriptions
I see that people are clashing a bit over the exact nature of the weapons in the game. Please bear in mind that Wikipedia is aimed at the general public, so I believe it would be a good idea to keep this sort of thing to specialised sites and write "a pistol", "a sub-machine gun" etc... After all it's not as if we are looking at an actual weapon as we would in a film: it's a few constructed images and sampled sounds... Mezigue (talk) 15:04, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Did someone deface the article?? 99.228.17.253 (talk) 23:20, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Relationship with Alyx Vance
The part "Relationship With Alyx Vance" seems out of place, and should probably be moved to the article on Gordon Freeman. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.122.210.173 (talk) 07:11, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] John Freeman
This popularity is largely due to the enigmatic and wonderful character John Freeman, the brother of Gordon Freeman, who has drawn much critical praise in regards to his amazingly heroic antics within the game. -- WTF? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.140.156.107 (talk) 07:51, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] secrets?
There is a secrets section, particularly regarding a tower of terror mod. this is incorrect because it is in fact a homebrew map created for Garrys mod, itself a mod. I will attempt to remove it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.212.252.73 (talk) 21:33, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Video Game
Why it's still called computer game? It's a multi-platform since the Xbox port, so it should be called "video game". --Barnz (talk) 10:07, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Never mind, now I understand why it's called a computer game. --Barnz (talk) 22:53, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
