[edit] Fair use for A Writer's Reference
The use of the image linked here (Halifax_AWritersReference_2005.jpg) in the Wikipedia article A Writer's Reference is claimed to be under fair use as:
- The image is only used for nonprofit educational purposes, for identification and/or critical commentary on the copyrighted work.
- It is an image representing only the cover and not the actual content of the product in question.
- The image is of a resolution far inferior to that of the original, and due to the resulting lack of detail it could not be used for media piracy (e.g. to manufacture illegal copies of the product).
- Given that the image used only constitutes a small part of copyrighted work, and is of inferior quality, it is assumed that the use does not lessen the commercial value of the copyrighted work.
