Halvergate

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Halvergate is a village (population 468[1]) north of Reedham in the English county of Norfolk, halfway between the Rivers Bure and Yare, within The Broads National Park. The name Halvergate is said to have originated from Hell's fire gate

The long distance footpath named the Weaver's Way passes through Halvergate, and this provides one of the few modes of access to Berney Arms village, railway station and mill.

To the east of the village are the Halvergate Marshes.

The village has a football team Halvergate United which plays in the Anglian Combination Premier Division.
