Halo James
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Halo James was a British pop group active from 1988 to 1991.
The band was fronted by vocalist Christian James (born 21 December 1964) and included Ray St. John (guitar, bass, songwriting; formerly of Pride) and Neil Palmer (keyboards; formerly of Atomage and Two People) among its members. They scored a Top Ten hit on the UK Singles Chart with "Could Have Told You So" in January 1990, and received critical acclaim for their Epic Records album The Witness, which peaked at #18 on the UK albums chart and went on to sell over 100,000 copies over Europe in its first year of release.
They had several other minor hit singles, but never hit the Top 40 again, and disbanded in 1991.
Ray St. John, who was already well-known for co-writing Sade's 1984 worldwide hit Smooth Operator prior to forming Halo James, remains active a songwriter, and has written hit songs for several other renowned artists, including Snoop Dogg and Gabrielle.
