[edit] History

Halo Guitars was created in 2000 by Belinda Lee and luthier Waylon Ford. Seeing most guitar companies stagnate in designs and become greedy by charging high prices to the public - they decided to do what they could to improve the market. The company is dedicated to manufacturing high quality hand made instruments at an affordable price. The first Halo guitars and basses were released at the 2000 Winter NAMM Show and featured designs popular within the metal genre of musicians. The instruments gained popularity quickly because of the outrageous designs, performance, and fast-playing necks[citation needed]. The company grows larger and larger every year with a roster of endorsees that include; Skinlab, Re:Ignition, Terror Syndrome, The Miserables, Brides Of Destruction, Poison, Hanzel Und Gretyl, Down Factor, Hail Mary, Ministry, Fire Ball Ministry, Danzig, Tony Smotherman, Bestial Devastation, New Project, HateFX, Oscar Ortega, and many more. They have grown dramatically with their guerilla marketing strategies. Halo is known for its 60+ showcases every month, NHRA racing, billboard advertisements, and massive growing street team.

In 2007, at the winter NAMM show, Halo Guitars revealed the 8-string electric guitars made possible by the joint action of Halo owner Waylon Ford & Kahler Tremolo System owner Gary Kahler. Since then, they have been known to cross the bar in many ways and are considered one of the up and coming guitar manufacturers of this generation.

[edit] Marketing

Halo's marketing strategy, which featured fetish models (known as the "Halo Gals") holding the guitars in unique poses, solicited comparison a young Dean Guitars.[citation needed] Halo employed marketing strategies unconventional for companies that manufacture musical instruments, including club showcases, conventions, billboards and radio and television. In addition to these the company also sponsors a drag racing team in cooperation with ITG Motorsports.

[edit] Halo Gals

The Halo Gals are employed as part of the marketing strategy and include models, roller derby skaters burlesque-, fetish- and sideshow- performers. They can be seen all across the globe heading districts of the Halo Street Teams.
