Glen Village and Hallglen are villages located in Falkirk, Scotland.
Glen Village has stood for over 100 years and is smaller and quieter than Hallglen.
Hallglen was built in the 1970s and the dodgy architecture is visible in the school building and numerous blocks of flats. It is sometimes referred to locally as "the concrete jungle".
Alan Bissett who wrote the novel 'boy racers' is from Hallglen.
Hallglen was featured in the documentary 'Boys Behind Bars' which aired on BBC Scotland. This followed the life of an ex young offender as he settled into life in Hallglen after being released from Polmont borstal.
Joyce Bissett, famous model for Evans Plus Size clothing, lives in Hallglen.
Calvin Straiton, lead guitarist with "The Barkin Dogs" is a resident of Hallglen
A lot of teenagers, mainly boys refer to themselves as The Hallglen Animalz, From the Concrete Jungle.
The Labour Party is continually elected to the council despite many residents being against immigration into the area.
Most people in the area support Rangers or Celtic football clubs despite being only 1 mile from Falkirk Fc. It is a clear case of Glasgow glory hunting in the area.
The area lies about 1 mile from the town centre in Falkirk.
Glen Village contains the bowling/social club and the local post office/shop.
Hallglen boasts 2 sole trader businesses, a bookmakers, a butchers, a hairdresser, a chip shop which has had numerous facelifts and a pharmacy.
There can be infrequent anti -social problems.
There is a fairly reliable bus service servicing both the villages.
The combined population is about 3000, making it one of the largest council areas.
Glen Village alone contains only around 350 people.
The former Cottages football team who played on the "Glen Park" disbanded with the pub.

The area is generally considered to be a decent dwelling residence in Falkirk.
The Union canal runs through both villages.
Most local schoolchildren move on to attend Graeme High School, otherwise St. Mungo's seems to be the favourable option also.
There are around 120 Glen/Hallglen pupils at graeme high school.
The community spirit is dwindling many consider the area to be less friendly than it was previously.
The Glen gala day is long gone.
There are many villages close by including Shieldhill and Laurieston. The Lionthorn development is 1/2 mile past Glen Village.
