Hall School Wimbledon (HSW) is an independent school in Wimbledon, London.
The school is divided into two: The Junior School is known as Beavers Holt and the Senior School The Downs.
The school was founded in 1990 (by current headmaster Mr Timothy Hobbs) with only nine pupils. It has since developed rapidly and currently has over 500 pupils.
The Hall School has dedicated itself to providing balanced, healthy meals for pupils for the duration of their stay, and the school tries new meals and recipes every term. There are options for pupils such as: Vegetarian, Vegan, Halal etc. The meals are freshly made every day and are of high quality. Some of the most popular meals at the school are: Chilli con carne, a variety of Indian, Mexican, Chinese and Italian dishes, and there is also a "Deli Day" where the pupils make their own sandwiches with different combinations of fillings, such as soft cheese and pickle.
The Senior School has a much longer school day than most independent schools, lasting from 8:30 am to 5:00pm with 3 breaks. The 1st and 3rd breaks, which last from 10:30-11:15 and 3:00-3:15, have refreshments such as milk in winter and juice in summer, and a biscuit.
The school is one of the best in Merton: it is regarded[who?] as being strong in most subjects, and has a happy atmosphere.
