Half Day, Illinois
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Half Day was an unincorporated settlement located in Lake County, in Northeastern Illinois. It was originally named Halfda, in honor of a friendly chief, whose name in Aptakisic meant “sun at its meridian” or half of the day. An early cartographer spelled it Half Day, and so it remained.[1]
In 1994, after a battle with the village of Lincolnshire, the village of Vernon Hills annexed Half Day.[citation needed]
