From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hal Sutherland was an animator who became a director of animated productions at Filmation in the late 1960's.
Sutherland had a hand in a large number of Filmation's limited animation productions which were broadcast as Saturday morning cartoons.
Sutherland's directorial assignments included the first twenty episodes of Star Trek: The Animated Series in 1973 and The New Adventures of Flash Gordon in 1979.
He also directed some of Filmation's memorable superhero cartoons, including Batman with Robin the Boy Wonder, The Batman/Superman Hour, Aquaman and The Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure all in the late 1960's.
One of Sutherland's last assignments with Filmation was as Production Director for the TV series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, which began airing in 1983. He also directed the rather dark Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night as one of his final projects with Filmation.
Hal Sutherland is also color-blind. Evidence of this is in the Star Trek Animated Series episode "More Tribbles, More Troubles" where the Tribbles are pink not brown
The IMDB does not list any further projects of Hal Sutherland after Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night (1987).
