Harold Priestley "Hal" Gill III[1] (born April 6, 1975) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman who plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Playing career
Before college, Gill played quarterback at Nashoba Regional High School[citation needed]
After being drafted in the eighth round, 207th overall in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins, Gill spent four years playing for Providence College. He entered the NHL during the 1997-98 NHL season and played over 600 regular season games over eight seasons with the Bruins. During the canceled 2004-05 NHL season, Gill played for Lukko in the Finnish SM-liiga.
On July 1, 2006, the Toronto Maple Leafs signed Gill to a three-year deal. On February 26, 2008, they traded him to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a second round draft pick in the 2008 draft and a fifth round pick in the 2009 draft.
