Hindustan Aeronautics Limited will be developing a Light Observation Helicopter (LOH) for the Indian armed forces. This will replace the Cheetah and Chetak helicopters in sevice with the forces.[1] The India military have a requirement for 384 helicopters of which 187 helicopters will be built by HAL.[2] The LOH will be based on the HAL Dhruv and will weigh about 2.5-3.0 tons. HAL is supposed to design and build the helicopter within six years.[3]
