Hakin9 is a bi-monthly publication on IT Security. The magazine is published in English and distributed in all English-spoken countries. The greatest part of hakin9's circulation is sold in the USA, a bit less in Australia, Netherlands, Singapore and United Kingdom.
Hakin9 is a source of advanced, practical guidelines regarding the latest hacking methods as well as the ways of securing systems, networks and applications.
Hakin9 is published by Software Media LLC that is a US branch of European publishing house, Software – Wydawnictwo Sp. z o.o.
Hakin9 – Practical Protection is read and subscribed mostly by IT Security managers, officers and trainees employed in large enterprises all over the world.[citation needed] The authors of hakin9 articles are experienced IT security specialists who have worked in Information Technology Security business for years. One might then call hakin9 "A magazine for IT security professionals by IT security professionals".
Hakin9 team runs hakin9 portal where the information on the latest editions, IT security news and products is provided.

[edit] Hakin9 Marketing
The cost of Hakin9 publication is high versus some of the other linux and computer magazines in the past. Some feel the marketing campaigns have been obtrusive to blogs, newsletters, and other online media outlets.
[edit] History of Publication
Hakin9's first edition was released in 2005, then after a few-month-long break the real editing process started in September 2006.
[edit] Controversy
Publishing house Software Wydawnictwo is known for not paying the money to their authors on time (a well known fact among Hakin9, Linux+ and the other titles contributors, but well hidden from the public).
Software Media LLC also released three extra issues of hakin9 newbies edition. It was called hakin9 starter kit and published in January, March and May 2007.
Pre-2005 release articles in English can be found available online. These articles were English articles submitted to the magazine before English versions of the magazine were available.[2]
