[edit] Arabic spelling

How do you spell her name in Arabic? Meursault2004 09:34, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

Never mind, I already know, it's هيفاء وهبي Meursault2004 09:38, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

The correct spelling is

هيفاء وهبي

[edit] Wehbe

She's officially known as Haifa Wehbe, don't you think it should be changed back from "Wahbi" though it's the proper pronounciation in Arabic?

Omernos 10:03, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, it's done ;-) Bertilvidet 12:29, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
It's been lately changed from "Wehbe" to "Wahbi" -- What I am asking is, isn't it supposed to be reverted back to Wehbe rather than Wahbi ?! Omernos 23:15, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
I agree completely, it should be Wehbe. This is also what she uses on her own webpage. Bertilvidet 13:01, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mum Christian

Since when is Wehbe's mum a Christian. She said she was a Muslim in numerous ocations.

So? She'd be a Muslim if her mum was Christian. Martyy1 10:35, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

I've got no idea what her mom is, but she is Shiite Muslim. I understand there are a lot of jokes in Lebanon, associating her with Hezbollah& Nasrallah. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.122.95.117 (talk) 18:24, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Who gives a crap what religion she is. Her mom is a Choptic Egyptian. Haifa is neither a practicing Muslim nor Christian. She has mentioned this several times in interviews. Her sister Rola is good friends with my cousin there mom WAS a Choptic Christian. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.0.168.241 (talk) 06:42, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Year of birth

There seems to be some confusion about her year of birth, and it has been changed several times. Can anyone come up with a reliable source about this? Bertilvidet 13:02, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

1970 is correct, she stated once on TV but I forgot which and when... Omernos 14:43, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
It might be a violation of WP:OR, but I contacted Haifa's agent through the official Haifa Wehbe website. She answered me that Haifas birthday is on 10th of March 1976. I dont see any reason not to trust this information. Bertilvidet 08:09, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Well, there is the fact that this article contradicts itself. Yes, the introduction states that she was born in 1976; but the 'Biography' section states:
A: She was sixteen when she won Ms. South Lebanon
B: Nine years later, in 1995, she was runner up in Ms. Lebanon.
Now, 16 plus 9 = 25. If she was twenty-five in 1995, then she was born in 1970 (95 minus 25 = 70).
Can anyone verify which number is correct - 1970 or 1975? --Artsfiend 11:05, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Haifa was born 1970, she was 25 participated in Miss Lebanon 1995 . She celebrated her 36th birthday this past May (2006). She has never been very public about her age in order to maintain her youthful flirty image.

yeh she is 37 this yr, but of course she would lie about that. she is almost 40 meaning despite her surgeries , her age is starting to show, i noticed her eyes are drooping, and she wont be able to maintain that image much longer.

  • Notwithstanding the previous two unsigned posts, the information from Bertilvidet's "official sources" seems to be the most definitive. The inconsistency noted by Artsfiend refers to the information in the Wikipedia article, which cannot be the source for the information in the Wikipedia article! I have two independent sources (one of them Arab) that her birthdate is 1976 ([1], [2]), so I am going to revert the birthdate back to 1976. Hope this is OK, Cheers, AWN AWN2 02:27, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

During 1995, Haifa Wehbe participated in the annual Miss Lebanon pagaent, where she came as runner-up - at the age of 25. Furthermore, nine years earlier in 1986, it is common knowledge that Haifa Wehbe was crowned Miss South Lebanon - and it is highly dubious that she received this at the age of 10. Accordingly, it would be seemingly impossible that the date of birth would be 1976 rather than 1970. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.107.25.47 (talk) 13:28, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Measurement Weight

Hi, Any know this data, measurements, and weight, the albums are only, 3? Houwa El Zaman (2003), Baddi Eesh (2004), Al Wadi (Soundtrack) (2005)?. My web is www.femmesfatales.com.ar/

Kind regards, Guillermo

[edit] Scandal?

Why is there always an oblique reference to a scandal in which Wehbe was involved, without further explanation? From what I understand -- which is unconfirmed gossip at this time -- she was involved in a rather spectacular sex scandal some years ago, before she started her music career. If this is so, and someone has good, verifiable information on this (like a newspaper article, at the very least), then it would be nice to see this explained properly rather than dropped like a hint into the entry. On the other hand, if no one can provide documentation that this story exists, if not actually prove its validity, then perhaps there should be no mention at all, since that might constitute libel. Anyone know all the straight dope on it? --Dgilman 07:35, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

I will try to get some sources but I doubt I'll be able to find any authentic ones due to the age and nature of the alleged scandal LebanonChild 11:00, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Support of Nasrallah

Her support for Nasrallah and his party appears to be legitimate. Here are two sources. Work them in. It also states her brother was a fighter for that organization.

http://archive.gulfnews.com/articles/06/10/31/10078726.html http://www.nysun.com/article/42928

Nokhodi 22:42, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

it isnt legitimate its purely PR because of the huge power Nasrallah has in lebanon. her brother was killed fighting for
Hezoballah however he had been estranged from her since she became...well what she is. its a known fact that none of her
family keeps in contact with her
Well, Nokhodi has presented some evidence that she supports Nasrallah, so you can't say that it's PR until you have evidence
that proves your claim. Lockadam 21:57, 26 Feb 2008

[edit] No discography.

She's a singer but there is not a single mention of discography.. mirageinred 22:13, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unprofessional

"Known for her dazzling beauty, sensuality and catchy, fun and harmonious music as well as her artistic showmanship, and sexy outfits."

I don't think this is suitable language for a dictionary, rather this is more like a line taken out of a magazine article.

[edit] Ana Haifa

Does anybody know how to write some of her songs (not just Ana Haifa) in Arabic? I'm expanding her article at the Korean wikipedia so I would appreciate it if anyone knows. mirageinred 20:28, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

   * Agoul Ahwak (أقول أهواك)
   * Wahdi (وادي)
   * Hayat Albi (حياة قلبي)
   * Mosh Adra Astana (مش اقدره أنساك)
   * Bos El Wawa (بوس الواوا)
   * "Ana Haifa" (أنا هيفا)
Thanks =) mirageinred 17:57, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Does anyone know the meaning of the titles? mirageinred 18:05, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Um. If أقول أهواك is the correct spelling of the song, wouldn't the transliteration be Aqoul Ahwak? Where is this mysterious "g" coming from? 205.155.71.46 (talk) 13:36, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I don't speak Arabic. I can only say that I've seen multiple transliterations of Arabic. мirаgeinred سَراب ٭ (talk) 16:22, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] anahaifa is not the official fan club

Haifa's official website, currently under construction, directs visitors to haifafans.com миражinred (speak, my child...) 21:23, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
