Talk:Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument

[edit] Age
While 3.5 mya is barely Late Pliocene (if one refers to the non-standard "middle Pliocene", this would be it), IIRC the fossil beds near Hagerman go into the Earliest Pleistocene, some 1.8 mya. It might not be the same location though; the website says 3-4 mya which is slap bang "middle Pliocene". Might be some obsolete dating, boundaries have shifted a bit around in the last years.
FWIW, the later date (c.2-1.8 mya) appears to be Glenns Ferry Formation sediments. IONO whether these have been reassigned or redated. Dysmorodrepanis 22:43, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
