Hi - looks like we were editing at the same time. I took a while - reading that artificial petrified wood reference, need a better ref than USA Today methinks. [edit] Hair
Back to version with 'Hair-miracle'.
Mr Hadal: the woman concerned has give me permission for publishing the pictures and she felt rather offended by your saying that her hair is gray. If you look better then you see that the “gray” is actually gloss (some pictures without gloss show indeed dark brown hair) and you can see the tiny amount of real gray in the hair in the micro-picture.
Besides, I thought that censorship was only applied to insulting discriminating or dirty texts. I can find neither of that in the text or pictures. Why censoring this? Can you tell me the real reason?
I always thought (and was told) that Wikipedia was a ‘free’ encyclopedia. But if censorship is applied because the opinion of one single person, Mr. Hadal, and thus forbidding all other Wikipedia-readers to get known of the (harmless) text concerned, then I think it’s a sad thing.
Isn't it better to save your censorship powers for real insulting or social-damaging texts or texts that have a technical problem (concerning the programming language or the lay-out of Wikipedia itself, for instance) instead of harmless texts which want to tell something special?
If you yet doubt about the color of her hair, in spite of some pictures which show very obvious dark brown hair (dark blonde), why don't you come to the Netherlands to visit this lady and thus convincing yourself of the truth?
If the hair is gray indeed, well, then I'll pay you back the journey to the Netherlands (because than I have been wrong, which I'm certainly not).
You can contact me at my e-mail about that: caterpillar27@home.nl

[edit] Nogay vs. Nogai
I apologize, I had no idea. However it still stands the term Nogai is the correct descritpion. I have checked multiple Dictionaries such as Webster and they all agree if you can find anywhere that is lists Nogay to be the proper term let me know, I can't. It is much more than Google results, and often Google results are a good way to find such things. 207.224.215.134 21:28, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Don't Try To Bully Me
My external links were placed at the end of the page, and were presented as different viewpoint opinions to add to the depth of the article, not as facts(which have POVs). If you would like to be an ostrich, trying to stifle information by sticking your head in the sand, that's fine. You cannot intimidate me.
Now, if you'd excuse me, I have more external links to add to the Bush page. --Karmafist 03:34, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I apologize for jumping the gun, a more experienced Wikipedian friend looked at my talk page and helped me understand that the admin "threat" wasn't from you, but just someone pretending to be you on a blank IP.
I appreciate the work you're doing, and thanks for sticking up for me against that fake admin. I have no desire to censor anyone unless they are defammatory, but in return I expect the same treatment. I think for the most part Wikipedia does this, and I hope I can help it grow as I get more experienced at it.

[edit] Question
Hello, Hadal. I've got a simple question to which I can't find an answer in the Wikipedia's help section, and I was hoping you could give me an answer:
What is the policy relating to images that aren't used in articles, but rather in User pages? Do I need to use any special idetification for the image's name? Is there a maximum number of images allowed (I am not thinking about including more than three)? Cheers. --Sn0wflake 15:40, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image on commons
On DYK, you said: (Image:Humpback anglerfish.png is at the Commons, so loading a local version might necessary to hinder vandalism). Can't we ask someone at the commons to temporarily protect the pic? Mgm|(talk) 11:41, Feb 7, 2005 (UTC)
- Oops, you're right that wasn't you. Good article anyway. :) I'll just put it up and see if it works without protection. I would imagine signing up for the commons just to deface a pic would be way too much trouble for people. Besides, they have to find it first. Please, feel free to load a local version if you think it's necessary. Mgm|(talk) 13:42, Feb 7, 2005 (UTC)
Yes, it was me. It's a good example of an ToL article, and the picture is both striking and thumbnails well. However, it's an interesting dilemma: The Commons is an excellent repository, but even if it is protected, a local image with the same name would override it. But in the interests of obscurity I'm not going to bring it up, at least while it's on the front page. Anyway:
Well done. (And despite widespread usage, "anonymous" is a misnomer. I have a static IP, which makes me considerably less anonymous than anyone who is masked by an account. "Unregistered" is more accurate.) 68.81.231.127
- Thanks. But I wouldn't stop using the Commons. This is a very narrow, obscure, potential problem which can be addressed at that level (uploading a local image, protecting it, and deleting afterwards one way). It's just the first time it's come up since the main page was locked down. I'll probably bring it up tomorrow. The worst thing about the Common is obscurity... it took me quite a while to figure out that I could steal the Nile crocodile range map even without the power to upload images. :) 68.81.231.127 16:20, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Anon "Save Enterprise" vandal
Good catch on the Star Trek page with the "Save Enterprise" vandal. I did a quick check and reverted a similar bit of graffiti from the same user at the Les Moonves page. Although I want to see Enterprise saved, this gives the effort a bad name. Unfortunately it's just an anonymous user. I'll have to keep a close eye on some of the Trek pages I have on my watchlist. Cheers. 23skidoo 03:53, 12 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Followup - I hear ya. ENT, Alias and Corner Gas are the only shows I watch anymore (BSG is on at a bad time for me but I know it'll undoubtedly be put on DVD so I'm not too concerned). I spend more time watching DVDs than broadcast these days (UFO and Wonderfalls are the two series that are alternating in my player right now). At least ENT is going out in style. I don't know if you get a UPN feed where you are (I'm in Calgary) but tonight's episode was excellent and I don't see a potential dud among the 8 episodes that are left. 23skidoo 04:13, 12 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Holocaust
I wish to complain about a paragraph in this topic.
"Adherents of this position claim that there never was a Nazi attempt to exterminate the Jews, and that many other minorities were persecuted as severely or worse than the Jews, particularly Ukranians under Stalin (the latter persecutions are often attributed to Jews). Many people who hold this position further claim that Jews and/or Zionists know that the Holocaust never occurred, yet that they nonetheless disingenuously use the Holocaust to further their political agenda. These views are not accepted as credible by mainstream historians."
Now I do not deny the Holocaust nor the extent of the suffering at the hands of the Nazis. But what I do have a problem is the insinuation that we who believe that the Holodomor had just as many victims as the Holocaust(which is clearly up for debate. The exact numbers for both tragedies is not known), are in fact belittling the impact or the scope of the Holocaust. While no doubt, many people seek to belittle the impact of the Holocaust by noting the numbers of other purges throughout history because of their anti-Jewish beliefs, I and many others, are not among this group. So we take issue with such a statement on Wikipedia.

[edit] Re: Bukkake
Hi-
There is a wikipedia page on the topic "bukkake". Here is the URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bukkake .
I added an external link to the web site "Bukkake.com" on this page and it was removed for "vandalism". The only article that this external link was added to was the article on bukkake. Here is the URL for the Bukkake.com site: [blacklisted link removed by EVula].
The Bukkake.com site has over 100 pages of bukkake-related content and its existence PREDATES the wikipedia article about this topic. Although Bukkake.com accepts advertising from some adult sites, it is not a porn site. I would argue that it is one of the best sources in the world for information about bukkake. It is a safe bet that whoever wrote the wikipedia article looked at Bukkake.com to get some of the information now published on the wikipedia site. What is the rationale for removing this external link?

O, sorry. I thought you did write it. I sometimes get confused on these things. While I don´t like the idea that you said "many people do" because it leaves the potential for those you wish to bring up the discussion of numbers to charges of being deniers when they are not, I understand your reasoning to say that. Thank you for your message.
[edit] Response from 64.246.58.26
Dear Hadal, My deepest apology. Forgive my ignorance in the past. Since I had not realised that one had to login to edit the pages. The edit that I made was to add a link to the page regarding the topic "mid-levels", as I found this site on the internet that was quite interesting and would like to share with readers. I have a lot of respect for the Wikipedia site and for all those people who have contributed to it. Hence, I have absolutely no intention to deface (editing pages without loggin in) it. From now on, I will register and will refrain from editing without having logged in.

[edit] Katharine Hepburn
Thank you for rv'ing those changes. I am relatively new to dealing with problems from other Wikipedia users so I wanted to bring this to your attention, since you're an admin. This person has actually regularly been deleting material from the KH article and you now represent about the third person who has RV'ed their completely unexplained and unwarranted deletions. I have left two messages now on two separate talk pages in response to the most recent deletions but some of the problem may be that this person logs in from different IP's, so I'm not sure they're getting the message. It is most likely the same person as they make virtually the exact same changes every time, and their IP's all trace back to PacBell Internet. It's not vandalism exactly -- nothing profane added, entire page not blanked -- but it certainly is disruptive and goes against the guideline of logging in before making drastic changes to existing articles. The IP's in question seem to be: 63.202.235.24 ([1] -- the one you rv'ed), 63.202.233.235 ([2]), 64.169.233.195 ([3]), 63.207.141.97 ([4]), and possibly others. Looking back through the history page before I got involved, it appears that this person has in fact deleted the same information about 6 other times. I'm now approaching the three-revert rule, and this person has clearly violated it already, so I am at a loss as to how to go from here. Katefan0 17:25, Mar 2, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hey Dickless,
Whether or not someone chose to call an electron a negatron (note that this is currently underlined in red as it is NOT a word) to allow parallelism to the positron, the fact is that it is not what people call electrons, under any circumstance. Grow a pair.
- Not that you deserve one, but I've responded at User talk:128.135.116.37. -- Hadal 05:30, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)
-
- 128.135.116.37, there are two reasons you shouldn't stoop to personal attacks in this matter. One is that it's against our code of conduct. The other is that... well... it's really sad. This is what riles your blood, inflames you with a fever for vengeance? Whether "negatron" is a real synonym for an electron or not? That's ... really sad. If you were getting inflamed about something that would send a single child in the world to bed hungry -- then your inability to keep your discourse civilized would be more understandable. But I can't help thinking that if you woke Einstein himself in the middle of the night and cried "Professor Einstein, someone's calling the electron a 'negatron'!" his response would not be "Gruss Gott! Those dickless bastards!" but "Oh. Can I go back to sleep now?" -- Antaeus Feldspar 15:29, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Hey Oneball
The following textbooks I have have no mention of negatron in their index
Quantum physics- Eisberg and Resnick Principals of Quantum Mechanics- Shankar Physical Chemistry- McQuarey and Simon Physical Chemistry- Berry, Rice and Ross Inorganic Chemistry- Miessler and Tarr Principles of Modern Chemistry- Oxtoby, Gillis and Nachrieb Quantum Physics- Gasiorowicz Classical Electricity and Magnetism- Panofsky and Phillips Introduction to Electrodynamics- Griffiths
I own no other textbooks that would possibly mention wrong namesof the electron The bottom line is that at best, one will see negatron and wrongly think that it is synonymous for electron.
I hope you have buds growing down there by now (don't pick at them)

Problem is, by you all leaving the channel, it just makes it worse for those of us who stay, because we have to put up with more crap and have less people to back us up :) But I respect your decision. There's no good reason to stay in a channel which makes you feel alienated. But enrc is fixed (again), if that's incentive enough to come back. - Mark 05:21, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] BARNSTARS FOR THE WIKIPEDIAN WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE!!!
Hadal, thank you for doing such a great job on Wikipedia! Your relentless and aggressive blows on vandalism have made Wikipedia a place of no nonsense and completely anti-offensive. Let's now take a look at the history of vandalism at Wikipedia.
There are many factories and large companies in the US and UK, right? Well, these companies were always scrutinizing possible sources of cheap labor, so they started outsourcing to foreign nations such as China and India and Mexico. However, astronauts recently discovered a civilisation on the planet of Mars and started outsourcing to THAT planet. In only 24 hours, thousands of low-paying sweatshops were set up on Mars, especially in the region of Olympus Mons. The three-eyed little green men had to start working long hours under unbearable conditions. But the good side is that technology was improved in Mars, as almost all of the little green men had access to the Internet. One day, one of the little green men went to Wikipedia by accident and suddenly came up with an idea. The idea was that the Martians could vandalize Wikipedia, thus threatening the companies and factories on the nearby planet Earth to start paying higher wages in return for not vandalizing their only vital source of knowledge (well, at least they thought it was going to be like this!). Then the Martians ran into some anti-vandalism Wikipedians like you. Because of your hard work on reverting nonsense and offensive edits, the retarded Martians are beginning to understand that strikes, not Internet trolling, is the most effective method of ending poverty and unfair opportunities in the world of business and industry. Thus, vandalism is probably starting to decrease. (Note I said PROBABLY because dumb people on earth are now doing most of the vandalism on Wikipedia.) Because of your work here, I will now present you a series of barnstars that you, Hadal should deserve.
Here is the Original Barnstar which I shall now present to you - for doing such a great job on Wikipedia.
The Editors Barnstars. Your
For working extremely hard, snuffing out vandals during the day and during the night.
Because we all love you, Hadal!
Another one, just to add to the fun!
Thanks again for beating back those Martians!

[edit] Sketches of Spain
Aloha. I noticed you were online and was wondering if you could help me move a page back to the correct title, as I don't have admin rights to delete an improper page move. User:The silentist meant well, but moved Sketches of Spain to Sketches Of Spain. According to Wikipedia:Naming conventions this is incorrect, as the convention is not to capitalize prepositions. Since the page has been moved, could you delete the old page (Sketches of Spain) and move the current page (Sketches Of Spain) to the original title (Sketches of Spain)? I've left the user a message on Talk:Kind of Blue and on his user talk page. Thanks in advance. --Viriditas | Talk 09:56, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] banning
Hi. I'm reporting frokonti as a vandal. It says so on his user page, and he hates you. Just thought youd like to know. Howabout1 04:59, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Hadal is no physicist:)
Dearest Hadal,
Your total lack of understanding simple motional derivatives as they relate to Newtonian mechanics is laughable, and you should be ashamed for correcting pages dealing with these topics because us Ivy Leaguers are smarter than you jackass!
Sincerely, Your local physicists
- A physicist I am not; but if you're truly an Ivy League-educated fellow, I think you should demand your tuition be refunded: [7] -- Hadal 02:51, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Kerry
If you try to say this "but no evidence was offered to prove his record false." is true, I will lose all respect for you. You know that it's not true. The Swift Boat Vets offered tons of evidence. In fact, of all the false and biased pro-Kerry edits I have seen to date, this most recent one is by far the worst. You should be ashamed of yourself. That sentence is totally false and you know it. 216.153.214.94 06:29, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- It seems you felt my reply on your talk page was "obviously false" and worth summary removal without consideration, so for the public record's sake I'll repost it here:
- I'm sorry to disappoint you, but to the best of my knowledge there really wasn't any supporting and/or verifiable evidence provided. You could split hairs and qualify "evidence" with "factual and verifiable", but this would rely on a belief that (heavily biased) opinions of people with no official latitude to judge Kerry's record constitute "evidence". I am always welcome to apprisal in this and any matter, so if you have factual and verifiable evidence to present, by all means do so. -- Hadal 07:00, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Help needed on the Ethics article
Unfortunately, someone set up an article parallel to our article on Ethics, in violation of Wikipedia policy. That parallel article violated NPOV by acting as a blog for one man's personal views, a person that also happens to be hard-banned user. Please see Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/Simple view of ethics and morals
Thanks for your time. RK 20:13, Apr 8, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you
... for supporting my recent RFA; I'll do my best. This rollback tool is so convenient for fighting the never-ending scourge of vandalism; I'm enjoying it already. Keep up the good work Gregory. Antandrus 02:51, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Newgrounds
Thanks man, i was thinking that i was going to have to revert this the whole night. --Boothy443 | comhrÚ 02:30, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Just doing whats right, and considering i personaly know the guys who run the site though we have lost touch over the past couple of years. You might want to keep an eye on User:DanPanic he vandalised the talk page a copule of mins ago. --Boothy443 | comhrÚ 02:41, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Why did you delete my links?
I added "History and Folklore" links to the different gemstone pages which you have now deleted. According to the Wikipedia rules, "inappropriate" external links are considered spam. I don't believe that these links are inappropriate. Each one gives useful and interesting information about the history of each stone. I commonly get questions from students looking for gemstone information to use in reports. I always refer them to this information.
According to the Wikipedia rules: "Articles considered advertisements include those that are solicitations for a business, product or service, or are public relations pieces designed to promote a company or individual." The external links I posted are not a solicitation for a business, product or service. They are not designed to promote my company in any way. There are no commercial links or commercial references whatsoever on these linked pages.
According to the Wikipedia rules: "there's nothing wrong with adding content-relevant links". I believe that the information provided through the external links adds valuable content to the article, but is inappropriate to be included in the body of the article itself because of the anecdotal nature of the information.
On another note - when I first posted the external links last week, there were commercial links on the pages. These external links were promptly removed by administrator "Vsmith". I therefore redesigned the pages to have no commercial links and resubmitted them. This second batch of external links was "approved" (not removed) by "Vsmith" until they were removed by you.
I ask you to please reconsider these links.

[edit] Image problems
Thanks for the info on image copyrights, I have added most of the sources and other info to my uploaded images. If there are any other that I have missed please let me know.
[edit] A link on "Hard Disk" entry
Hi. A couple days ago, I added a link to another online encyclopedia, describing a Hard Disk because I thought that maybe explaining things a different way would add to the topic. However, you reverted the page to before I had added the entry.
I was just wondering if you would be so kind as to explain why my link had been removed. Thanks for all of your work around here. Keep up the good work!

[edit] Usercomment / Add / Tilde
Hi, I see all three templates survived TfD. I hope you don't hold the nomination against me; I'm ashamed to say I did it for less than pure motives. I do take issue with the nonstandard divbox, but that's a quibble.
It does seem to me that {{usercomment}}, {{add}}, and {{tilde}} could usefully be merged into one or two templates. I'd like to see if we can work something out together. — Xiong熊talk 03:59, 2005 Apr 16 (UTC)
Any new comment? Not here to make a fuss, just want to work on something together. — Xiong熊talk* 02:35, 2005 May 3 (UTC)
[edit] Paul Vogel
Hi, I just reverted some vandalism on User:Paul Vogel. I understand his timer is supposed to begin again if he edits, but I thought an admin might have to do that. Just thought I'd let you know. - Revived 02:52, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] List of political epithets
If you think this is a list and that "it shouldn't go into details of who finds what offensive and why", why don't you also edit the entry for "Judeofascism" to delete the fact that Jews find it offensive to the memory of Holocaust victims? --Islamist 15:33, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Tulsa
I have resolved the misunderstanding regarding dan's edits. I thought he had dropped thetulsan on the 11th but in fact he dropped another site that was inappropriate. I appreciate what you are doing for wiki and apologize for the fuss.
[edit] RfC
Hello. To let you know, User:Islamist is currently the subject of a Request for Comment (RfC). The page is located at Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Islamist. Please share any thoughts that you might have. Zscout370 02:09, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Francis Bacon
I don't get it. Why on earth does Francis Bacon attract so many vandals ?!¿"? - and not just today, its got quite a history. -- Solipsist 17:25, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Research project on wiki contributors
Hello-
I am aware that this is not the typical message usually posted, so I would like to apologize and ask for your kind understanding. I am a PhD student at Syracuse University School of Information Studies. My advisor and I are working on a research project on contributors to Wikis. This project received Institutional Review Board Approval number 05048. I would like to have a brief email dialog with you about your experience as a Wikipedia contributor. Please respond to this posting or send me an email at wikiresearch@hotmail.com, if you would be willing to answer a couple of quick questions. I would like to assure you that your comments will remain confidential.
Best regards, -Isabelle Fagnot
[edit] formal apology
hello,
i just wanted to extend a formal apology for my recent additions to the 'pope' page. i'm still fairly new to using wikipedia and was suggested by couple of friends [name undisclosed] to add my entries. i made a bad judgement in adding it there. there are probably more apporpriate places for such entries.
again, i want to extend a formal apology; i do not mean to offend or abuse the system. it may come across this way partly due to my status as a 'neophite'
ps: i would have sent an email, but i couldn't find an address for you.
