Hadejia-Nguru wetlands

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hadejia-Nguru wetlands in northern Nigeria are on the List of Ramsar wetlands of international importance. They are also economically important as inland fisheries, and strongly support the economy of northern Nigeria. They are surrounded by dry savanna. Dams have threatened the viability of the wetlands, and a major conservation project was established in 1987. Nguru Lake is part of the wetlands.
