Talk:Hacker (computer game)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I've redressed most of the top part of the spoiler for a more accurate description of the security section of the game. I fear that my punctuation is a little off, though, and may need a redressing itself.
I've played Hacker and I don't remember seeing a universal translator. And you can interact with any spies of whatever language, you just have to deduce what they're saying. Incidentally, I haven't seen any solution (or walkthrough) to Hacker, even though Hacker II does. Almkglor 16:43, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
There is a walkthrough to be found on the net, but it is either wrong or incomplete. I have yet to see or hear of a person who has beaten this game. Also, there is no universal translator, and I will be removing that bit of text accordingly.
- It was many years ago, but I completed it. Once you get the hang of it, it's not that complex. It's not surprising you haven't found any complete walkthroughs of the game. It predates the widespread use of the Internet. Walkthroughs tend to be for current games, not games as old as this one. And there is a translator of some (though it may not be a "universal translator"). Before you have it, trying to converse with agents in other countries is almost impossible. After you get it, everything they say is translated into English. — Frecklefoot | Talk 14:37, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

- Hmm. I finished Hacker II, but never this game. I always just run out of time right about one-two moves away from Washington DC after completing the document. Any hints? Hehe. Almkglor 22:18, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- I beat the game back in the day. I still have my notes, but curiously they only turn up when I don't need them. My recollection, which differs from the ubiquitous online walkthough, is that you _can_ pass safely through Australia when traveling from China to South America. Alas, I haven't been able to replay this most excellent game on a modern computer, so I can't verify my theory until someone re-engineers the game.MatthewDaly 03:25, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- I thought I remembered reading that the tunnel through Australia was commented out, and the game was not winnable unless you poked around in the files on disk, and made the change to enable it.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Hacker flip cover.png
Image:Hacker flip cover.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
