If you create new articles on Germany-related topics, please list them at our announcement page and tag their talk page with our project template {{WikiProject Germany}}. [edit] Tagging an article for the project

That gets done quite easy by placing the template {{WikiProject Germany}} on or near the top of the talkpage. In case of World view I'd say though, that althaugh it is based on a German word/idea it is not something specific to Germany, so I would not tag thant article. BTW I will be unavailable for 12-15 hours now. Agathoclea 06:41, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

What do you mean by specific? Is a rural dancing habit like Shuhplattler specific - for that region: yes it is. Consider singing which appears all over the world. And if you look at Lied it appears to be something specific in the way they do it. By inventing a word for something that doesn't exist in other languages people expressing their specific way of thinking/living/dancing/sleeping - that's what we mean by culture. Too much military information on the pages. It's all abandoned from the education in Germany. Technical instruction of tanks submarines and bombers... It's of no use for the normal citizens. On the other hand: I consider Weltanschauung as something remarkable and important (and Lied too). Habibie

With Weltanschauung the question is: Is it an international phenomen that has been named by a German word, or is it only typical German view. As far as the project is concerned it is a collection of all Germany-related articles. It contains a lot of military history because the project on military history has already much earlier identified articles by country. There is still about 20000 towns and municipalities which need to be tagged for the project (some of them still need to be created). Agathoclea 08:27, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Do you know how many military-related words can be changed into topics of an encyclopedia - I guess there are more than towns in Germany. Habibie 09:59, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion of articles

Please see WP:AFD for details. Also note that only articles that go against Wikipedia policy will be deleted. Nominating articles because you don't like the subject matter will be seen as disruption which is itself against policy. It would be preferable, if you were to concentrate on adding information where you feel it is lacking. Agathoclea 09:31, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

You might want to follow the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nachshub. The article as it stands now should be moved to Wikitionary, but a quick look at de:Nachschub shows, that there is some potential for an encyclopedic article, if someone would be bothered to make it. It might be best if you just watch the discussion and learn which arguments are used and which policies are relevant. Agathoclea 12:36, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

This is the first issue of WikiProject Germany's newsletter. The newsletter is intended to help all members of the project to keep up with new developments and coordinate new collaborative efforts.
Other areas where you can help
  • Assessment requests: Some open Requests for assessment need to be answered. To see new assessment requests as they come in, you can watchlist the assessment page.
  • More task forces and subprojects: As this WikiProject covers a very large topic area, it is helpful to add more task forces that focus on specific aspects of Germany. Currently, we have a Mainz task force, a Munich subproject and some joint task forces with other WikiProjects. Any project member is invited to start a new task force. Suggestions for possible topics:
    • Transportation in Germany
    • German politics (the political system of Germany and the biographies of its politicians)
    • German Democratic Republic

Be creative! If you have an idea, just suggest it on the project talk page (don't forget to watchlist it).

  • Categorization: Uncategorized Germany stubs need to be categorized
Project news
  • Criteria for B-Class status: The assessment criteria for B-Class have been changed. {{WikiProject Germany}} template now has 5 switches, B-Class-1 through B-Class-5 that correspond to 5 easily checked criteria that an article should meet to be assessed as B-Class. The advantage of this system is that now there is a clear boundary between Start-Class and B-Class articles. Authors of articles that were assessed as Start-Class now get more direct feedback what they should improve to attain a B-Class rating.

All of our B-Class, Start-Class and Stub-Class articles now need to be checked whether they meet any of the B-Class criteria. This is a major effort, and we need your help! If you want to help, but don't know how, please post at the project talkpage.

  • Cities and municipalities task force

A task force dedicated to creating and improving articles on all German cities and municipalities has been started and is looking for help.

  • Cities and municipalities task force

The task force dedicated to creating and improving articles on all German cities and municipalities is happy to announce that there are now (at least) stub articles for all municipalities of Germany. Now the task force is looking for help in fleshing these out a little bit. The current phase of activity for the task force is to copy in infoboxes from the articles in German Wikipedia. If you want to help, even just for a few articles, look at the instructions and links here

  • Article Assessment:

There are now way over 26.000 articles tagged as part of our Wikiproject and many still need either an importance or a quality assessment. Also there are many more out there that do need to be tagged like approx 8000 municipalities. If you would like to help take a browse through Articles needing Importance assessment or Articles needing a basic quality assessment.
