[edit] POV
Seems to me the first paragraph after the POV tag is obviously 1)written by someone with a very strong POV in regards to this topic, and 2) is such atrocious English that one wonders if any of it belongs in an English encyclopedia? --Bill W. Smith, Jr. 21:53, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for removing the paragraph I was questioning. It is, however, bad wikimanners to remove someone elses comments from a talk page (other than a personal talk page you own) without archiving. --Bill W. Smith, Jr. 04:26, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Sir Richard Burton
We need to cite a source for the Richard Burton quote. Furthermore I don't see why his portrait merits inclusion in this article. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 18:17, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Maintenance
This article needs to cite its sources, particularly concerning assertions of aristocracy, territorial dominance, etc. The clan lineage section also needs cleanup (e.g. pruning) and (speaking as a non-Somali) it would be helpful to see all that information placed in some sort of context. I have tagged the article for maintenance, but various editors (mostly anonymous, from within the 88.105.xxx.xxx IP range) are removing the {{Unreferenced}} and {{Cleanup-confusing}} tags from this article. I've left messages (e.g., {{drmmt}}) for the individual editors, but this seems pointless as the IP address keeps changing. I've requested semi-protection for the article. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 22:08, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Revisions
The whole article requires revision as it appears it has been written by a child. It is confusing and out of context. The spelling is horrendous and the grammar even worse. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mali0208 (talk • contribs) 09:52, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Suggestions
Clan Structure requires major revision as it does not need to be that long; all it needs to be noted are the major HY tribes without going into families. E.g
HY
Cali Siciid
Carre Siciid
Carre Siciid Isaaxaq Carre Muuse Carre Dandaan Carre Kuul Carre Gambo Carre Ismaciil Carre
Ismaciil Carre Yoonis Ismaciil (Sacad Yonis) Muuse Ismaciil Cabdalle Ismaciil
Cabdalle Ismaciil Idareys Cabdalle Muuse Cabdalle Cumar Cabdalle Cumar Cabdalle Ugaadh Cumar Kalliil cumar Aadan Cumar Aadan Cumar Cigaal Aadan Maxamed Aadan
Rooble Maxamed (Carabala) (A)Baho Rooble (B)Samatar aadan Xildiid Maxamed
Xildiid Maxmed Abokor Xildiid Xasan Xildiid Xuseen Xildiid Cismaan Xildiid
Cismaan Xildiid Cali Cismaan Cabdi Cismaan Muumin Cismaan Xirsi Cismaan
[edit] Basic Structure
I agree whole wholeheartedly. Its best to use the basic structure below:
1 Habar Yonis (Saciid Ismciil)
1.1 Cali Saciid 1.2 Carre Saciid 1.2.1 Isaaxaq Carre 1.2.2 Gambo Carre 1.2.3 Dandaan Carre 1.2.4 Kuul Carre 1.2.5 Muse Carre 1.2.6 Ismaciil Carre 1.2.6.1 Muse Ismaciil 1.2.6.2 Cabdalle Ismaciil 1.2.6.2.1 Idareys Cabdalle 1.2.6.2.2 Muuse Cabdalle 1.2.6.2.2 Cumar Cabdalle 1.2.6.3 Yonis Ismaciil 1.2.6.3.2 Reer Barkad 1.2.6.3.2 Reer Maxamuud 1.2.6.3.2 Idareys
please help complete the above partial list by continuing with the same structure.. Thanks.
I think one of the main issues might be that Somalis are taught to recite their lineage from memory as very young children. While this works for the oral tradition of Somalia, it just doesn't translate well into a neat, grammatically-correct English dictionary. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.237.207.44 (talk • contribs) 16:51, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
