[edit] Notable?
Is this topic really notable? Is it likely that anyone outside MK is ever likely to be interested? --Concrete Cowboy 18:24, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yea, same as the V6. Some of them are more notable, first for those within MK, secondly for town planning enthusiasts, thirdly for road enthusiasts, fourthly for people local to the wider area and fifthly for those interested in the city as a whole and thereby its road system. All in all that is a hell of a lot of people, so it is notable. Some of them maybe aren't, such as H1 Ridgeway, but the more major ones definately are, due to the way the MK road network works they are strategically more important than some A-roads, all of which have thier own articles (an example being the A5130). Ideally I'd like to see the entire grid system covered providing a complete guide to it as the unique network that it is, but this may be a bit farfetched. But certainly H6, H9, H10, V6, V8 and possibly V10 are notable. Tom walker 19:34, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- I was referring to all the individual grid road articles, not just this one. Yes, fair enough as a group they are notable - but are they really notable individually? Maybe they should all be combined into a single Milton Keynes gridroad system (or Milton Keynes gridroad network?). That would allow you to list them all, with detail on the major ones (V6,7,8, H5,6), the controversial ones (v10), the non-existent ones such as "H0" (old A422) and "V12" (A5130 that should be upgraded to a gridroad but is to be downgraded to a "city street") and even the short ones (V1, H1). --Concrete Cowboy 13:18, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- That will be a very big article, but if you really want to then yes I'll go with that, it could be interesting. Totally agree about the A5130, as does the whole of MK, not that anyone listens.Tom walker 16:51, 6 February 2007 (UTC)#
- Maybe you could have a grid road article ( I think grid roads should be 2 words, and have articles on the major ones, just leaving the pathetic H1 and v5 and v9 etc to just be written about in the big article. You could have a main article link under the non- pathetic ones. Oh, and the old a44t, is that the road that runs along the northern edge of the city, but comes 'inland' in new bradwell?Tractakid 07:58, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Have a look at the comment that led to the massive reduction in A5 road. I think the same crit could be made of the major grid roads. Too much information. ("Old A422" is Stony to Newport via Wolverton and N Bradwell, along the Ouse Valley). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Concrete Cowboy (talk • contribs) 13:14, 7 February 2007 (UTC).
- Some of that A5 info shouldn't have gone. Parts of that would be very hard to find out elsewhere. I'm very fond of Tractakids idea I must say. I'd like to go with that. Tom walker 16:47, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, let's see how it looks. Let us know when done. --Concrete Cowboy 17:49, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Lots of effort. But I've done it. Milton Keynes Grid Road System. Tom walker 19:03, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
