H-series (Toronto subway car)

The H-series rapid transit cars, were a subway car model built from 1965 to 1986 for the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) in Toronto, Canada:

From 1965 to 1975, the cars were built by the Hawker Siddeley Canada in Thunder Bay, Ontario. They were built from 1977 to 1980, and 1987 to 1990 by Urban Transportation Development Corporation also of Thunder Bay, Ontario. These cars would become the standard cars for the TTC.

Prior the design of the H1, the TTC before some test at St. Clair Station and Union station with a 75' test vehicle known as the Duncan Dragon. [1] Built at the Duncan Shops by Len Bardsley and the D&D Equipment, the test car consisted of two trucks with three panels testing the height and width of a car and tunnel. A steel girder with railings allowed workers to walk and ride the car during tests.
