[edit] History
Hercules sporadically appeared in the top flight every decade up until the end of last century, with the 1970s being the most successful period. They last appeared in La Liga in 1996/97 and, though relegated, managed two remarkable comeback wins over Barcelona, which ultimately handed over the league title to Real Madrid.
