It is no more incorrect to call the 1967 thru 1969 drafts "AFL Drafts" than it is to call them "NFL Drafts" They were in actuality called the "Common Draft" and by some sportswriters, the "AFL-NFL Draft". If the template had a heading "CommonDraftYear" and "CommonDraftPosition", I would use it without change, since that would be CORRECT. Using a general heading "NFLDraftedYear" is simply NOT TRUE for the years 1967 through 1969, for AFL players nor NFL players. If you want to use that incorrect heading for NFL players, then use "AFLDraftedYear" for AFL players. Otherwise, I make a plea to the Wikipedia gods to create a heading for "CommonDraftYear", etc.

Similarly, the overall template "NFLPlayer" is incorrect and inadequate when used for hundreds of AFL players who never played in the NFL, including Hall of Fame player Billy Shaw. The "NFL Project" should be the "Professional Football Project", player templates should be "ProfessionalFootballPlayer", etc., and there should be headings for "AFLAllStarGames", since AFL players did NOT play in "Pro Bowls".

Further, the heading "Year Folded" should be changed in the AFL template, beacuse THE LEAGUE DID NOT FOLD. It merged fully with the NFL, kept all its teams in all its cities, and contributed important elements to Professional Football As we know it today. A better heading would be "Year Merged".

Because "NFL" is taken to be synonymous with "Professional Football" today does not mean it always was. This should be recognized by Wikipedia.
