[edit] Timothy Alan Mazzetti

Are you trying to delete it? If so, as author, put {{db-author}} at the top of the page. Flyguy649 19:48, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Luther Elliss

Hi, I'm going to temporarily delete Luther Elliss for just a moment and then bring it right back in order to fix a cut and paste move that was done there (Moves should be done with the "move" button at the top of the page to preserve the page history). If you could hold off editing it until I'm done, I'd appreciate it. I'll let you know when I'm done, it shouldn't take long. Peace, delldot talk 23:47, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

All done, thank you! delldot talk 23:56, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bob Skoronski

Was he born in 1934 or 1944? (stub uses both dates). Cheers1 --Stormbay 21:44, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New sports biographical articles

I noticed you have created many biographical stubs on football athletes. I was just letting you know that it would be appreciated if you could tag, on the article's talk page, with a couple WikiProject banners. Some that would be applicable include:

{{NFLproject}}
{{WPBiography|sports-work-group=yes}}
{{WikiProject College football}}
{{American Football League project}}

I tagged a couple of your new articles so you can view those and see what I did. I edited Talk:Ken Mendenhall and Talk:Tom Brahaney. These tags assign the article to the appropriate WikiProject and lets like minded editors know they exist so they can improve them. Let me know if you have any questions.↔NMajdantalk 19:41, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

I also noticed you just added wikilinks to many individuals in the All American box on the Oklahoma Sooners football article. Just so you know, per Wikipedia's Manual of Style, you only need to add a wikilink to the first occurrence of something in an article. For instance, you added a wikilink to Billy Sims in the All American box but there is already a wikilink to him earlier in the article, so that particular wikilink should be removed. Same thing for several others you added.↔NMajdantalk 19:53, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] NFL - Laakso

Thank you for starting the Eric Laakso Stub I had about given up on someone starting it and actually started myself, imagine my supprise as I was confirming links you had begun, I've mereged my tidbits with yours and also tagged the Discussion page. Thanks again User:slysplace Gnomes at work 01:36, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Categorization

Hi, you keep putting Craig James into Category:United States Football League players. He's already in Category:Washington Federals players and according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines, articles should not usually be in both a category and its subcategory, so please refrain from placing him back in the top-level category. Thanks. howcheng {chat} 19:59, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please Vote

can you please vote for adding colors to retired players infoboxes or not. seeTemplate talk:Infobox NFL player#Retired players.

[edit] Great Job!

I was the one that started adding the starting lineups to the Super Bowls, but I didn't have the patience to follow it through (I got like 1/3 or 1/4 of the way through). I see you've seen it through. Nice! I wikified Super Bowl III (which I originally added before I knew much about how to fill out tables) and will try to fix a couple more. Again great work! Quadzilla99 17:36, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DEFAULTSORT

I noticed in the Gordon Lockbaum stub you created, that you may not know about a relatively new feature for categories: {{DEFAULTSORT:Last, First}}. It will save you the work of putting "Lockbaum, Gordon" at the end of each category. I updated the article using it. (P.S. Glad to see that you found the "College of the Holy Cross alumni" category I created) --Georgeryp 06:40, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AFL-NFL

It's just as wrong to call the 1967, 1968 and 1969 drafts NFL drafts as it is to call them AFL drafts. There were still TWO pro football leagues in those years. The college draft was called the "Common Draft" or the "AFL-NFL Draft".

Another flaw in the template is that it is titled "NFL player". Since it is used for many players like Lance Alworth, Len Dawson, Don Maynard and numerous others who played in both the AFL and NFL, and made their reputations in the AFL, and since it is even used for players like Billy Shaw, Earl Faison, Tom Sestak, Charlie Hennigan and dozens of others who never even played in the NFL, the template name should be "Pro Football player".

Further, the whole project should be called "User WikiProject Pro football". "NFL" and "Pro football" were not synonymous over the entire history of the sport. SugnuSicilianu

[edit] Al Denson (football player)

Hello. I have noticed that you recently removed an unreferenced tag I placed on Al Denson (football player). I believe this was unnecessary, since the article does not fully cite its references, as requested in WP:CITE. Please do not remove tags until you have fixed the problem. Yours truly, BoricuaeddieTalkContribsSpread the love! 15:58, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello. This is a reply to your message on my talk page. I put the tag because, according to WP:CITE, you must include a full citation for every source used. Also, I suggest you create subpages for articles you are still completing, instead of creating new, incomplete articles. Please see Wikipedia:Subpages for more information. Finally, the fact that others do the crime doesn't give you the right to do it. Yours truly, BoricuaeddieTalkContribsSpread the love! 16:53, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jimmy Carr edits

I have reverted your edit to on Jimmy Carr. It seems pointless to tell somebody to check out a page which doesnt exist. Once this page has been created, I think it would be fine, but at the moment, not so. Coolmark18 00:07, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Torah

Thanks for removing some obvious vandalism to Torah. However, you didn't remove all that the previous editor had inserted. When you see vandalism, it's a good idea to compare recent versions using the "history" tab at the top, in case there has been more than one vandal edit after another. Having found the last good version, you can then revert to that, e.g. by editing it and saving it. You may like to try WP:Popups which gives you a really useful toolkit to do such things quickly, automatically leaving a clear edit summary. Hope this helps, and that I'm not teaching you to suck eggs! Thanks again, kind regards - Fayenatic london (talk) 19:53, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright infringement

Please do not, under any circumstances, copy and paste material off of any other website into Wikipedia, as this is a violation of copyright, as you did at Joseph Profit, Ph.D.. If you have done this in any other article, please remove any material you have copied in this way at once, or, if you are the only contributor to the article, request that the article be deleted by adding {{db-author}} to the page. [edit] College Football Hall of Fame

Hey Gypaetus, it seems we've both been writing articles on NFL players recently, you quite a bit more than I. I was looking at another project to start and saw that the three college football hall of fame pages, Players A-K, Players L-Z, and Coaches all have quite a few red links. Would you be interested in stubbing the remaining articles out with me? If you're in the middle of something, go ahead and finish it. I don't know when I want to start this. In addition, if you know anyone else who would be interested in this, feel free to invite them as well! Patken4 23:56, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the kind words and thanks for all of your much needed creations! I wasn't planning on starting this for about a week or so, so I should hopefully have a few articles started by the time you get back. Have fun on vacation! Take care. Patken4 00:29, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
  • I hope your vacation is relaxing and enjoyable! I've started some stub articles and have finished all players with a last name starting with A or B. Thanks. Patken4 00:50, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merges

I'm not a sysop, so I can't do page merges. However, on a few of the pages you might be able to do re-directs to the other pages.

Al Lolotai - Albert Lolotai On these pages, since Albert Lolotai is so limited, I would delete that the information there and simply do a re-direct to Al Lolotai.

Larry McGrew - Lawrence McGrew These two have basically the same information, so I would do a re-direct from Lawrence to Larry since that is his most common name.

Melila Purcell - Melila purcell Melila Purcell has less information, but is correctly capitalized. So I would copy the information from Melila purcell into Melila Purcell and do a re-direct.

Michael Spurlock - Micheal Spurlock Same information, but Michael is the one with the correct spelling of the name. A re-direct from Micheal to Michael would be a good choice.

Isiah Stanback - Isaiah Stanback Isaiah is the correct spelling, so Isiah should be a re-direct to Isaiah.

Let me know if you have any questions about this. Patken4 21:14, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Suggestion

Hello. Thanks for your hard work. You might want to consider adding the {{WPCFL}} banner to talk pages of any new bios of CFL players. Also, it would be good if you could include at least one reference for each bio showing where you got your info. heqs ·:. 21:31, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Just wanted to say thanks for tagging the Stanford football Hall of Famers as you work your way through the NFL. Your work is appreciated! --Esprqii 18:32, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] NFL player stubs

Someone mentioned you as a guy who might want to create some stubs for some NFL players. I was hoping you would create stubs for Ralph Clayton (American football), Dave Young (American football), and Rick Norton.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 02:44, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] John Morrow (football player)

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article John Morrow (football player), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 00:29, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Talk page banners

Can you add perhaps some nested banners to the pages...such as... the three for Ron Atchison here - covering football, geography, and biography and ratings. Talk:Ron Atchison Thanks you ever so much Kind Regards SriMesh | talk 00:34, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox

can you please use the Template:Infobox NFLretired for the retired football players articles you make, a lot of the infoboxes are being changed to this one, thanks--Yankees10 00:13, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] CFHOF

Hi Gypaetus, I see that the Canadian Football Hall of Fame has changed their website organisation. I believe your first change to the template was the better solution. i.e.: cfhof.ca/index.php?module=page&id={{{CFHOF}}} as the players and the builders have different "page id"s under the new system. Players have id=24 and Builders have id=28. I suspect the best solution is to put the ending part of the url in the CFHOF parameter such as I did with Bob Ackles [1]. Cheers!
