From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
My “real” name is J. Martin, I am a professional freelance writer (creative and advertising) living and working in Germany, i.e., in Düsseldorf (75%) and Hamburg (25%).
So much for the essentials. Some nice-to-knows:
- Member of the FDA (Freier Deutscher Autorenverband), the non-union German Writer's Guild. (Though the FDA, as I just noticed to my chagrin, is mentioned on the disambiguation page in the German language Wikipedia, it stunningly, inexplicably, and entirely lacks an entry of its own.)
- Completed an M.A. degree in American Literature, Medieval English Literature (Old English and Middle English), and Modern German Literature in 2000 (including complementary studies in general linguistics and in the history of the English language) at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf; a Ph.D. with a thesis on postmodern American literature and literary criticism is forthcoming in 2008.
- Member and co-founder of Sinnflut-Projekt, a project-team-oriented freelance network in Germany.
- Certified PC technician with CompTIA A+ Certification (220-301 and 220-302 exams, taken in 2006).
- Miscellaneous pastimes: active sports enthusiast (running, gym, freeclimbing, sailing); frantic reader (lit, litcrit, science, sf); moderately frantic gamer (1st person shooters); aurally as well as theoretically focused on 1967–1973 (and 1967–1973-inspired) rock music and modern/postmodern "classical" music; the-brights member; interested in virtually everything and everything virtual.
