Gympie Road is a major road and metroad route in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, Queensland. It is the main road route from the Brisbane CBD to the Northern Suburbs, Sunshine Coast and Queensland's east coast. The route was formally part of the Bruce Highway and carried the designation Alt. National Route 1 until the Metroad system was introduced. It was also formally the main route connecting the Gold Coast and New South Wales with Queensland's east coast, until the Gateway Motorway was built. Gympie Road is named after the town of Gympie, north of the Sunshine Coast.
