Gymea is a CityRail railway station on the Cronulla branch of Sydney's Illawarra line. It serves the residential area of Gymea.
Gymea station is served by two trains per hour during off-peak traffic, with additional trains at weekday peak hours. The maximum number of trains, four per hour, is limited by the single line section on this branch; although the station itself has an island platform with a line on either side (the line converges to one to the West).
The station is also the setting for the Sista She song "What R Yooze Girls Doin?" in which the rap duo recount their seeing-off of unwanted male attention.

[edit] History
The station opened with the line in 1939, when the residential area was first developed. Originally, Gymea had a crossing loop. The line from Miranda to Caringbah was duplicated sometime around 1980.
Until recently, the station was only accessible by stairs. In 2005, the station was upgraded to Easy Access with the installation of a lift and tactile strips.
Under the CityRail Clearways Project, the remaining sections of single line railway from Sutherland to Gymea and Caringbah to Cronulla will be duplicated.
