[edit] Changes from short to baggy
Until about 1988, men's gym shorts were very short. The first time today's "baggy" look was publicized was when Michael Jordan wore baggy shorts in the commercial with Spike Lee(nike) in 1988. After that, the look spread into american culture and into other NBA teams. Another basketball team who emphasized today's modern style, who were inspired by Michael Jordan, was the fab 5 wolverines who included Juwan Howard, Chris Webber, and Jalen Rose.
Even into the late 1990s and early 2000s, John Stockton of the Utah Jazz wore "short shorts". During a hardwood classics night on December 31, 2007, the Los Angeles Lakers wore the short shorts against their 1980s rival, the Boston Celtics.
