Gyland

Gyland is a former municipality in Vest-Agder county, Norway.

Gyland was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt), but it was merged with Bakke already the fall 1839.

It was (again) separated from Bakke on 31 December 1893. At that time Gyland had a population of 1.085.

On 1 January 1965 Gyland, as well as Bakke, Hidra and Nes, became incorporated into the neighboring municipality Flekkefjord. Prior to the merger Gyland had a population of 691.
