Gyeongsang National University is one of 10 national universities in South Korea along with Seoul National University, Pusan National University Kyungpook National University, Chonnam National University, Chungnam National University, Chonbuk National University, Chungbuk National University, Kangwon National University, and Cheju National University. The main campus of the university is located in Jinju, South Korea.

In 2007, researchers at the university discovered a way to make cloned Turkish Angora cats glow red when exposed to ultraviolet light.^[1]
