Henry was the first head college football coach for the Howard Payne University Yellow Jackets located in Brownwood, Texas and he held that position for two seasons, from 1912 until 1913. His coaching record at Howard Payne was 5 wins, 7 losses, and 3 ties. As of the conclusion of the 2007 season, this ranks him 18th at Howard Payne in total wins and tenth at Howard Payne in winning percentage (0.433). [1]

[edit] Mizzou

Henry was head coach of the University of Missouri from 1923 to 1931. During his tenure, he compiled a 40-28-9(.578) record. Taking away his cellar-dweller years in 1923, 1930, and 1931, where he went 2-3-3, 2-5-2, and 2-8-0 respectively, he could be considered one of the best coaches in Big Twelve history. He holds another distinction, as being one of two coaches to play a football game on Christmas. On December 25, 1924, USC defeated Missouri 20-7.[2]

[edit] Other schools

Henry also coached at the University of Kansas, University of New Mexico, and the College of Emporia.

[edit] Personal life

He is the grandfather of collegiate track and field coach Pat Henry.[3]
