Gwernymynydd

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gwernymynydd is a small community near the market town of Yr Wyddgrug (Mold) in Flintshire, North Wales. The name Gwernymynydd translates as 'Meadow of the mountain'. The village is 2 miles from Mold and at its highest point is 1000 feet above sea level.

With around 1000 inhabitants it contains 3 pubs (The Swan, The Rainbow, and The Glyndwr), a combined shop & post office and a user car dealership. Little remains of its industrial history - the worked-out Cambrian limestone quarry was once owned by Lever Brothers Ltd.

Gwernymynydd is also home to a farm, a community centre and a village primary school. Neighbouring communities include Cadole, Y Waun (Gwernaffield), Nercwys and Yr Wyddgrug (Mold).
