Gwazi is a dueling roller coaster at Busch Gardens Africa (Busch Gardens Tampa Bay) in Florida. Its maximum speed is 50 mph and includes 6 fly-bys (portions of the ride where the trains pass each other in opposite directions). The name Gwazi originates from a fabled creature with the head of a tiger and the body of a lion. Gwazi includes almost 7,000 feet of combined track and both the Lion and Tiger have different track layouts. It is known to be a rough, uncomfortable ride due to extreme lateral movements. It has been known to cause minor injuries.

Gwazi opened in 1999, only a few months after Dueling Dragons at Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure. Gwazi holds the record for most fly-bys on a dueling roller coaster, and is the largest and fastest double wooden roller coaster in the southeast.

[edit] Tiger

The Gwazi Tiger has an element that gives riders a slalom sensation more like a bobsled than a wooden coaster. The Gwazi Tiger side features blue trains.

[edit] Lion

The Gwazi Lion's highlight is a seemingly continuous number of spirals. The Gwazi Lion side features yellow trains.
