[edit] Brief biography

Ben was born in Kogarah in Sydney, New South Wales, and grew up mostly in Ballina on the Far North Coast. He has also lived in Junee near Wagga Wagga, and in Perth, Western Australia, and his parents lived for a time in Port Hedland.

[edit] Interests and hobbies

Ben's interests include science (especially the public awareness of science), music (particularly rock, folk, and folk-rock), books (favourite authors include Alexandre Dumas, Jules Verne, Victor Hugo, Robert Harris, Kate Orman and Michael Marshall Smith), theatre (particularly the works of Shakespeare and Stoppard, and fringe theatre, with which he is familiar from many years participating in the Melbourne Fringe Festival) and games (especially board games, role-playing games, theatre games and card games). He may be described as an anglophile, and among his favourite pop culture icons are Doctor Who, Sherlock Holmes, Monkey, Richard Dawkins and Douglas Adams.

[edit] Nicknames

Guybrush Threepwood is the name of the protagonist and player character in the LucasArts adventure game The Secret of Monkey Island and its sequels, which are probably Ben's favourite computer games. He has also used the online nickname "Barrington", after the character played by Danny John-Jules in Tony Robinson's television series Maid Marian and her Merry Men (it is also an obscure reference to Red Dwarf).

I'm currently looking for sources to expand and add to Wikipedian knowledge of Australian theatre, starting with the vibrant and important independent theatre scene here.
