Guys Read

Guys Read is a literary organization founded in 2001 by children's book author Jon Scieszka to promote literacy in men and boys. Citing psychological and biological studies concerning the physical, mental, and emotional growth of adolescent males in comparison to their female counterparts, the intent of the organization is to promote books that boys like to read concerning subjects that interest them, as well as helping form their emotional growth and provide male literary role models. According to Scieszka, schools are "promoting such a narrow version of literacy that we're not including what a lot of boys like,"^[1]and Guys Read was formed to try and fix that.

Scieszka and the organization released a compilation of essays from male authors in 2005, Guys Write for Guys Read.
