Guy R. Pelton

Guy Ray Pelton (August 3, 1824 - July 24, 1890) was a U.S. Representative from New York.
Born near Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Pelton attended the common schools and the Connecticut Literary Institute, Suffield, Connecticut. He taught school. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in New York City in 1851. Held various local offices.
Pelton was elected as an Opposition Party candidate to the Thirty-fourth Congress (March 4, 1855-March 3, 1857). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1856 to the Thirty-fifth Congress. He resumed the practice of law in Great Barrington. He died while on a tour in an attempt to climb Mary's Mountain in the Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, July 24, 1890. He was interred in Mahaiwe Cemetery, Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
