Guthy-Renker Corporation is a direct-response marketer known primarily for selling products in the United States via infomercials. However, the company now sells products direct to consumer through many media channels (TV, print, radio, web) through offices in many countries (Japan, Australia, Germany, China, Canada, UK). Based in Palm Desert, the company is named after its 2 founders, Bill Guthy and Greg Renker. [1] According to their website, "Established in 1988, Guthy-Renker is today one of the world's largest direct response television companies with sales of more than $1.3 Billion per year and an average annual growth rate of 25% over the last 10 years."[2]

In order to take advantage of their advertised prices over future shipments, customers are usually asked to join a subscription based club, something that is disclosed in their TV ads but sometimes missed by consumers.[3][4]
