Someone who knows what's going on should clarify if he's alive or dead, as the intro says he's alive... while the second section says he's presumed dead. That's really encyclopedia quality continuity there....

As of April 2007, Gustave is alive. This has been reported by National Geographic <refTemplate:Http://www.nationalgeographic.com/adventure/news/gustave-primeval/article.html<. But, regarding his size, I grant you that 20 feet may be on the low side for him, but there is no way he is 30 feet. Were he to have this size, he would easily be the largest crocodile in modern time. And he would make his species, the Nile crocodile, the largest living reptile, ahead of the saltwater croc. I'd suggest we say 20-23 feet. That still puts him on par with the largest living saltie

DinoJones 00:18, 22 October 2007 (UTC)1 ton is FAR too low of a weight estimate for Gustave. There have been plenty of 16 foot Nile and Saltwater Crocodiles that have weighed in at around 1 ton. Gustave would be closer to 3,000 to 4,000 lbs.

[edit] Aspiazu

Is this vandalism? i cant find anything on this aspiazu.Fjoekjui 21:54, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

I deleted it after I searched for "Aspiazu" and came up with nothing. I assume either its from the film or vandalism. Pflan88 22:34, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Even worse"?

"Even worse, it is feared that Gustave is behind the death of four to six hippos. Gustave's physical appearance could scare even the most hardened inmates..."

It seems to me that this wording is not NPOV. --Neo3DGfx 17:46, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] no pictures?

this croc is still out there and even has a documentary and a horror movie made about it....and we don't have one picture?

There are a couple on the web. Feel free to google some up and add them yourself.

Not sure if this helps, but there is a video of Gustave on Youtube.com. You simply have to type in "Giant Crocodiles" in the Search bar, and the video should be near the top of the list.

[edit] Unreferenced edits by Johnny542

Removed until references can be provided:

He developed a taste for human flesh by feeding on dead bodies thrown into the water by a local warlord.
His huge size has allowed him to kill and eat an adult hippopotamus, a feat that would be impossible for smaller crocodiles. Since he is too big and heavy to catch smaller prey like small mammals and fish, he catches larger, heavier animals like wildebeast and zebra. Thanks to his thick, armored skin, he has also survived several attacks by humans wielding guns and knives.
It is considered if Gustave be protected instead of killed because the scientists say that he is one of a kind.

All those things are true. Just go to the websites and look it up. Also go to youtube and look up Gustave and I might even put in more websites to show you. Johnny542 12:48, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

YouTube is not a respected source last I checked, certainly not a 2nd hand account of what someone thought they saw Gustave do, nor do the respected sources mention him eating any hippo, and the theory that he may of moved on to humans from the corpses Rusizi, so there are no references for those things at the top Johnny boy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.137.207.191 (talk) 07:30, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
