Gustav Diessl (30 December 1899 - 20 March 1948) was an Austrian artist, and film and stage actor.

In 1916 he played for the first time as an extra at different stages in Vienna, but soon he had to join the army and was held prisoner for a year during World War I. After the war, Diessl startet a training as a stage designer, but abandoned to pursue a professional career in acting. He played for a touring company for time being, and in 1921 followed the first fixed engagement at the Neue Wiener Bühne.
In 1921 he made is film debut in G.W. Pabst's In Banne der Kralle, and In 1928 he starred in Abgründe, and in 1929 opposite Louise Brooks in The Box of Pandora.
Diessl was able to remain popular in the 1930s and during the 1940's; he appeared in Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse, directed by Fritz Lang, Kolberg, directed by Veit Harlan and Der Prozess, directed by Pabst.
After his first marriage failed, he lived for several years with actress Camilla Horn, but in 1938 he married the soprano Maria Cebotari. After two strokes he died in 1948. Cebotari died only one year later of liver cancer.
