Gustaf Nyholm

Gustaf Nyholm (27 January 1880, Stockholm12 September 1957, Stockholm) was a Swedish chess master.

He was the first Swedish Champion (19171921 and 19221924), and a Nordic Champion in 1917.[1] [2]

In 1907 he took 6th in Copenhagen (6th Nordic-ch, Paul Leonhardt won). In 1909 he took 2nd in Göteborg (7th Nordic-ch, Milan Vidmar won). In 1912 he took 11th in Stockholm (8th Nordic-ch, Alexander Alekhine won). In 1916 he tied for 6-7th in Copenhagen (9th Nordic-ch, Paul Johner won). In 1917, he won in Christiania (Oslo) (10th Nordic-ch). In 1919 he tied for 7-8th in Göteborg (11th Nordic-ch, Rudolf Spielmann and Anton Olson won).[3]

Nyholm played for Sweden at second board (+3 -8 =4) in the 1st Chess Olympiad at London 1927.[4]
