Guri Schanke (IPA[gʉ:ɾi skɑŋkɘ]) (Guri Annika Schanke, born December 14, 1961) is a Norwegian actress and singer. She is known in Norway for her acting career, and was part of the 2005 round of the Norwegian version of Dancing with the Stars, where she came in second.

Her debut as an actor came in 1982 on Oslo Nye Teater. Since then she has been part of a number of successful musicals, such as "Les Misérables", "Summer in Tyrol" and "Annie Get Your Gun". She has taken part in a number of TV show and productions, for example the Norwegian TV series Hotel Cæsar. She has been married to Øivind Blunck since 1991.

Every year, between Christmas and New Year's Eve, the Norwegian TV channel NRK airs the televised musical theatre comedy The Spanish Fly (1990), also starring Guri Schanke and her then future to be husband, Øivind Blunck.[1] [2]

Guri won the 2007 Norsk Melodi Grand Prix with her song "Ven a bailar conmigo" written by Thomas G:son. Guri, won Norsk Melodi Grand Prix 2007 with 108 541 votes, which was 30 000 votes more than the song in 2nd place. Thanks to her win in Oslo in NMGP, Guri represented Norway in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest

Guri Schanke, representing Norway with "Ven a bailar conmigo", participated in the semi-final on May 10, 2007 in Helsinki, but failed to reach the top 10 for qualification into the final. She performed in the 19th position following FYR Macedonia's Karolina Gočeva with "Mojot Svet" and preceding Malta's Olivia Lewis with "Vertigo".

  • Anther Norwegian Eurovision contestant Elisabeth Andreassen, was present at the Norwegian final of Dancing with the Stars, to cheer for Schanke. She revealed that she is Guri Schanke's aunt.[3] She repeated the statement again, when they both were part of an episode of the musical TV show Beat for Beat on NRK.[4] The link is Andreassen's husband, Tor, who is the brother of Lollo Schanke.[5]
  • In 2006 at the age of 45, she became the Norwegian face of L'Oreal Garnier for their anti-wrinkle firming cream Ultra Lift.[6]
