Orphaned non-free image (Image:Shaz1.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Shaz1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:53, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm building up quite a collection

...of images, like you have - I have some of the Karims (awful actors) and a random stray cat Pete found (I didn't realise the extent of Pete's speech impediment!), baby Jasmine... well, and that's about it... but it's growing :) -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 21:39, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Cool, I've also got some of the Karims. I took them sometime last summer and they've been on my pc waiting to be added to their articles, which I have never been bothered to write because they are so boring, lol. The mother was the worst, Such a weird face. They weren't really in it that much though. The son hardly had any storylines, similar to Lloyd Tavernier. They were just there to be occasionally arrogant.
Pete's voice grates after a while doesnt it? I seem to fastforward all his scenes. I used to like him when I was a kid, how times change. Nejdet Salih is also an awful actor at times. I was going to do an article for jasmine, but didnt know whether to put her in the minor list. What do you think? Gungadin 22:14, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Minor. I've just capped Vince Johnson, too. I got a crappy cap of Sufia, but an alright one of Sohail. I'm seeing Marge, Paul Priestly and the Karims in action for the first time - Marge is alright, Paul and Sufia's voices are annoying, and Sufia can't act. -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 22:22, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
And Pete just said "Awight, Fwank?" which made me laugh. And I've just glimpsed Trevor, he reminds me of Kevin the teenager! -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 22:23, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
And I've just realised I'm capping from the same episode you got the Julie Cooper and Danny Whiting pics from! Damn! -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 22:27, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Oh yeh, i forgot you weren't even born when these were in it. I always liked Marge, Vince was a bit of a naff replacement for Darren Roberts. Wait until you see Trevor Short - possibly the most annoying character ever. Apparently Frank's full name is Francis Butcher, so he said in an episode I saw the other day, lolGungadin 22:36, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

It's a bit weird watching episodes older than me, lol. Vince seems a bit one dimensional, Trevor is funny, but Paul is annoying, and so is Julie Cooper... Did I tell you I started a YouTube channel with a load of EastEnders things on? Here... Oh, and I added Francis to his article! -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 22:41, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Oh my sweet Jesus, Rod Norman - wtf?! And why does Dot have a walking stick and limp in 1989? -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 22:44, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Lol, Rod is a bit like 80s Boy George isnt he? I loved Rod, but his look was a bit dated by the time he left, so I can see why he was writen out in 1990. I think on Halloween 1989, Dot was egged by Junior and Melody when they were playing trick or treat. She gave chase and fell over. That is probably why she's limping. I cant remember another reason for it. In 1989 Charlie Cotton turned up with a broken leg, I do remember that.Gungadin 23:38, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Forgot to say, great clips on youtube. I remember that Bianca and Tiff one really well :) Gungadin 23:42, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Ah, the Hallowe'en explanation makes sense, as they're all wearing poppies - so it must be around November 1989. How the hell do you remember all of that?! -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 23:46, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Well I saw that halloween ep, a few years back. They were having a party in the vic and Julie Cooper got dressed up in a red lycra catsuit, pretending to be the devil. She did it to pull Laurie, the Slut! My mind is just a reservoir for pointless information. Shame I cant train my brain to remember facts for exams better though :) Gungadin 23:54, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Lol, what exams are you doing? I'm doing my GCSEs at the moment... ugh. -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 00:21, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Also, another thing, I didn't realise that Tavernier was pronounced "TaverniƩ" until I saw the Christmas episode where Clyde brings Kofi home... -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 00:30, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm doing my Msc exams soon, there's several different modules cog therapy, addicton etc. Lots of annoying studies to remember and people's names. I hate exams. I remember being so scared doing my GCSE's, i wrote all the physics equations on my pencil case, lol. I'm sure you'll be fine. If I had of known that the only GCSE's anyone cares about are Maths, Science and English, then I wouldnt have done so much revising. Not that i'm advising you not to try to get them all though, just that it's nothing to worry about if you dont. You just need enough to do Alevels, which is 5 I think. But anyway, you seem like an intelligent guy, so i'm sure you'll ace them all.
Have you had your May ball? ahhh I wish I could have mine again. I hadn't noticed the Tavernier thing. They all pronounce it differently, especially Dot. There's a really random episode in 1992 I think, where Dot keeps following Hattie around everywhere spying on her and giving her a lecture every five minutes. It's really funny. Gungadin 00:44, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Ah, see, you can't write equations in your pencil case anymore, you have to take in a clear pencil case! And I'm going to fail maths, which will piss my mum off, as she's a maths teacher... eek. But I'm pretty confident with the rest! We have a prom/ball in June, on our sign out day, the 29th. All the Tavernier family pronounce it "TaverniƩ"... it's like Yolande, everyone pronounces it differently, like Jim says "Yo-land" (like Roland), Dot says "Yo-lond", and everyone else says "Yo-land-ee"... -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 01:11, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Clear pencilcases! that sucks. There's a way you can blag it though. Some scientific calculators have an option that allows you to type in data on a blank screen. It saves it on its memory and whenever you go into it you can read what you stored on it. I used this method for my psych A Level. No one will suspect a thing, because you are allowed calculators in exams. Other than that I always find mnemonics helpful for remembering facts.
As far as Maths goes, just get you mum to give you loads of past GCSE papers from years gone by. They include basically the same problems every other year, although they may be worded differently. Understanding maths is the hard part, but you dont need to understand something to practice it. Once you learn the methods off by heart, you will just be able to do the problem without understanding the logistics. I did this with simultaneous equations. I struggled for ages trying to work out how to do them because I didn't understand it and it really frustrated me. Then I just learnt the method off by heart, and it didnt matter that I didnt understand it anymore because I got them right anyway (I still dont understand it, lol). So my advice for maths revision is just go over past papers until you know the procedure for each problem. If you dont know how to do something, get your mum to show you the method, learn it off by heart and just forget about understanding it. Gungadin 16:49, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Arthur's bench

Do you have an image of the bench? I think it would be a good addition to the article. :) --Elonka 18:31, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

To the Pauline article? -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 19:04, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
The best I can come up with is this screenshot of the inscription Image:Arthursbench.jpg. I whitened the backgorund to make it stand out. It's a pretty non-descript wooden bench apart from the plaque thing.Gungadin 19:31, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Donna Ludlow

Could you tell me where you got that picture of Donna? Or if it's in the form of a video, could it send it to me? Cheers. Sillygostly 03:56, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Kenny Beale

I noticed you merged Elizabeth Beale into the minor list - please don't merge Kenny, as well, he's appeared in much more than just the main serial. -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 16:14, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Dont worry, I wasnt going to. What do you think I should do about these Terry Rich (only appeared in about 6 weeks worth of episodes); Eddie Hunter and Harry Reynolds, I cant decide. Also do you have any ideas what you want to call the list of spin off characters? I want to get that started so I can start adding to it and get rid of some of the red links.Gungadin 16:19, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
What redlinks? I'd call it List of EastEnders spin-off characters. I think merge all three, btw. -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 16:41, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

I meant the red links in the past character list, but I've just seen that they arent included on that list anyway. Gungadin 18:23, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

The Perfectly Frank, Slaters in Detention and Pat and Mo characters are. -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 18:44, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Oh right, why those and not the others? I suppose the Civvy street ones arent on it, because it was set in the past.Gungadin 18:50, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Yep, and the same for Dot's Story. -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 18:54, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Were the bits where Dot visited the dying welsh woman not set in real time then? (not the flashbacks of her as a child, but the other bits). Also do you think I should merge Irene Holloway or leave her as is? Gungadin 19:00, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
I dunno... there's a bit in real time at the beginning but I've only literally watched the first 5/10 minutes... -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 19:08, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

FA

I'm actually quite eager to file the paperwork, but don't want to do it while there is a risk of edit-warring. If we can get this one last issue resolved, to show that the article is stable, then I'll move forward.  :) --Elonka 23:27, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Feel free to move forward with the other changes requested on the FA nom. The general etiquette is to reply after each item, saying either something simple such as "Fixed. ~~~~", or expanding as needed. If you disagree strongly with any item, it's best to either ignore it (not everything suggested on an FA has to be fixed), or to reply directly to the individual's comment. It is acceptable to disa\gree, but for best results, do it only in the most polite and courteous terms, along with careful explanation as to why you disagree. I find it helpful to think about being Japanese, with lots of bowing and humility. :) FA noms are a big deal, as you're probably seeing! And if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. --Elonka 16:04, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the tips. I am finding some of the suggestions highly pedantic and I dont like having to suck up to the reviewers, but I'll do my best, :o)
Ive fixed the book refs, but I dont think that was necessary to be honest. We have loads of refs for the same books and all the long inline refs are making editing irritating.
How do you think the lead looks now? Writing that in out of universe is just a long winded way of doing it in my opinion. Instead of saying Pauline we have to say the character etc. As if readers wont realise that the character is fictional.
I also have another ref for for the arthur thing. Which suggestions do you think I should be ignoring? Gungadin 16:28, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Anything that's just a formatting tweak, even if it's a pain, let's go ahead and do. Yes it's red-tape, but it's indisputable red-tape, and if a few minutes reformatting a reference makes an FA reviewer happy, it's worth it. As for choice of references, that's a big deal, see WP:NOR#Sources, so if a reference is questioned, I'd say yes, change it. And yes, fansites shouldn't be used as references, unless they're verifiably notable fansites (probably famous enough to have their own Wikipedia articles), and even then they should be used with care and usually as a last resort. The only time I got away with using questionable references was in a very specific case on the Knights Templar article. You can see that FA nom here, to see what I was dealing with: Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Knights Templar. Search on the comment about urbanlegends.about.com . --Elonka 17:31, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Gungadin do you have another source for the "Free Arthur Fowler" campaign stuff? It seems the Bill Treacher fansite isn't a good enough source... -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 17:06, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

BTW, Gungadin, just wanted to say that your reply of "*Unfortunatley none of the contributing editors have her autobiography at present, but thankyou for suggesting it as i'm sure it would contain some useful insights. Hopefully it can be used to extend the article in the future", was brilliant. You got the FA formal language just right. Very well done.  :) --Elonka 17:36, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Elonka :)
Trampikey, there was one ref for Arthur from the evening standard that was printed on 26 March 1996, but I cant find it on the news site now. It must have been removed. It was interesting, talking about how Bill Treacher refused to allow EE producers to make Arthur commit suicide in prison, which was what he was originallty meant to do apparently. He wouldnt film it so they had to kill him off another way.

There is this article [1] that talks about how Willy Roper was attacked by irate Arthur fans chanting "Arthur is innocent" and chucking ice creams at him. lol. Shall I use that as a ref? Gungadin 17:45, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, lol it'd be good to incorporate that somewhere, but it doesn't back up the t-shirts or single statements... -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 17:47, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Oh Ive just found this [2] i'll quote the relevant bit.
"Lastly, there are reasons to be cheerful - the Free Arthur Fowler Website is, presumably, now defunct.
Complete with song (available on CD etc etc) and T-shirts (available etc etc etc).
Poor old Pat the Penguin Productions. No sooner do you get a possible rip-off spin-off than the event goes toes-up on you.
There is a Web God after all. http://www.fastnet.co.uk/ fowler/ "
Is this ok u think? Gungadin 17:52, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
I don't think we're allowed to use things as references that need registration to view... eek. -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 18:00, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Really? i dont see why not, if they are that desperate to view it they can join up. Or they can go and look up the paper in a UK library newspaper database. If they think it's worth it lol. I'm gonna put it in anyway.Gungadin 18:19, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
There's nothing fundamentally wrong with using a non-free source as far as I'm concerned - If there's a equivalent free source, use that instead. I'm happy to take an editors word that the source backs up what it's referencing. I've seen others oppose on the grounds that there's too high a proportion of unavailable sources, but as the article largely uses web sources, I think most of them can be easily checked. Image request

Hi, I noticed you have the episode with Dr. Legg and Natasha Powell in it. Would it be possible for you to update the image of Tomas with one from that episode? -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 00:10, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Sure, that's been done.Gungadin 00:20, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

The Working Woman's Barnstar
For your absolute dedication to writing the wonderful out of universe cultural impact content on the Pauline Fowler article, thank you. -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 21:51, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! I'm just trying to beef up the OOU stuff so we dont have to cut out anymore of the storylines. Doing FA is far too much of a chore isnt it? I wont be desperate to nominate any others in a hurry. lol Gungadin 23:28, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Rationales

I recommend looking at the images on other FA articles, and seeing what kind of rationales they used. Generally it's an entire section on the Image page titled "Fair use rationale", and then a paragraph of text or a list of bullet points as to why fair-use is appropriate in that particular case. --Elonka 19:39, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Image:Xmas94.jpg

I have tagged Image:Xmas94.jpg as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. Image:Kells.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Kells.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 16:59, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
