Gunnar Berg (painter)

Gunnar Berg (b. 21 May 1863 in Svolvær; d. 23 December 1893 in Berlin) was a Norwegian merchant-turned-painter, known for his paintings of native Lofoten. He first studied in Düsseldorf, Germany. He painted memorable scenes of the everyday life of the local fisherfolk; one of his best-known works hangs in native Svolvær's town hall.
He died of cancer and is buried in Svolvær.
