Gung-Ho is a character from the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toyline, comic books and cartoon series of the 1980s. He is the G.I. Joe team's original Marine and debuted in 1983.

His real name is Ettienne R. LaFitte, and his rank is that of marine gunnery sergeant E-7. Gung-Ho was born in Fer-de-Lance, Louisiana. One of his many toy versions features the Marine 'blues', a dress uniform.
Gung-Ho was born into a large Cajun clan and moved to New Orleans. He joined the Marines at age 18 and graduated top of class from the boot camp at Parris Island.
In the Marvel comics G.I. Joe series, he first appeared in issue #11. He was one of the Joes picked to guard Cobra Commander. The ninja Storm Shadow eventually frees the Commander; the ninja and Gung-Ho injure each other during the incident.
He is featured in the first four issues of the Devil's Due series G.I.Joe: Frontlines, which chronicles the last mission of the original run of the G.I.Joe team. Along with others including Duke, Scarlett and Wild Bill he battles various Cobra forces in order to keep valuable technology out of their hands.
He first appeared in the animated series in the A Real American Hero mini-series.

Gung-Ho will be played by Brendan Fraser in the upcoming G.I Joe movie (due for release in August 2009).
