[edit] Gumpert Apollo

The Apollo is the first and currently the only vehicle produced by Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur GmbH. Made more like a race car than a street car the Apollo features a tubular steel frame and a carbon fiber monocoque. The vehicle is powered by a fully rebuilt Audi twin-turbo 4.2-liter V8; an engine which in stock form can be found in the original RS6. Thanks to modified KKK turbocharger the Apollo makes 650 hp in stock form and can be optioned out to 800 hp with the sport package. The Gumpert Apollo is capable of 0-62mph in 3 seconds (2.9 seconds for the sport model) and a top speed of 360km/h. The Gumpert Apollo base model is estimated to cost €198 000 and the Apollo Sport, €299,500. [1]

[edit] Development partners

Gumpert has worked with several technical partners to develop the Apollo, including KW for the suspension, and ATS for the wheels.

[edit] Availability

The Gumpert Apollo and Apollo Sport are only available in the European and Middle Eastern Markets. There are no current plans for Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur to sell in North American and Asian Markets. Gumpert produces an estimated 24 models a year and is planning on expanding this production number sometime in the year 2008.

[edit] Motorsport

In April 2008, Gumpert announced they would enter a hybrid version of the Apollo in the 2008 24 Hours Nürburgring piloted by 2004 winner Dirk Müller and ex Formula One Racer Heinz-Harald Frentzen. The Apollo will use a 3.8 litre petrol engine coupled with a 100kW electric motor. The car will also have the ability to recharge the battery under braking.[2]
