Talk:Gulf of Saint Lawrence
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Most references I've seen describe the Saint Lawrence Estuary and the Gulf of Saint Lawrence as two different bodies of water, divided by Anticosti Island. See [1] as an example. Can someone local confirm or deny that the Gulf is considered part of the estuary? Kmusser 17:49, 16 August 2005 (UTC)
I am from "la Gaspésie", and I would believe that this type of division, for a local resident, is highly artificial. Locals call this body of water "la Mer" (the Sea), which generally extends to all the body of salt water in the region, including the Gulf and the Estuary, down to a good distance into the mainland.
